I hope the Flames get DeBrincat just for the name. Don't know the slightest thing about him as a player.

Sounds like the first name of a NFL player. DeBrincat Jones

I wrote a brief summary of him in the "Beyond Round 1" thread. I also would take him in the 2nd.
Quote:
Alex DeBrincat - RW - 5'7, 160lbs, shoots R
Basically a RW version of Johnny if he pans out. A lot of people thought he was just the benefactor of being on McDavid and Strome's line, but even without them his point totals have been extremely high:
With McDavid/Strome: 68gp, 51g - 53a.
Without: 60gp, 51g - 50a.

What do you all think about us picking any of these guys in the 3rd That's if they are still there lol
Vitali Abramov a 5"9 170 Rw
Nathan Bastian 6"4 207 Rw
Carter Hart 6"1 170 G
Also I wouldn't mind also using one if our 2nds on Sean day

There's a rumor Hart is a lock to go to EDM with their 2nd (33rd). I'd think Bastien could go as high as the Flames' 35th. And Abramov... coin flip, size could push him down to the 5th, skill could push him high 2nd. Would rather focus on size with the mid round picks If it were me.

I doubt Debrincat is there in the 2nd. I bet he goes late 1st, in the 20s.

I will be surprised if Abramov is available at 35.
Bastian would also be a good pick there, but I prefer Cam Morrison or Will Bitten or Jonathan Dahlen over him.

The goalie situation I see playing out in the same way as the Mcdonald draft. Say the rumors are right and EDM takes Hart @33. Then we will see the other two go real fast as well.
As for the rest of the draft, I have a feeling some lesser known quantities from Europe will go higher than they should this year. There's some real talent that's not being talked about as much. I can fully see the likes of Bjorkstrom, Tuulola, Korshkov, Sompii, Asenen and Rasanen go nice and high. Especially the Finns as they seems to be on a developmental roll these past few years.

Not interested in Hart, unless he's there in the 3rd round. We've got a solid prospect base at the position between McDonald, Gillies, Schneider, and Rittich, no need to spend a 2nd on a goalie prospect unless it's overwhelmingly the BPA.
Not all that interested in Bastian, who doesn't appear as valuable as Thompson, Morrison, LaBerge or Mattson and honestly doesn't seem to have value added over Raddysh or Kyrou.
As for Abramov, if we take Keller I don't want him as we'll have picked the most talented little guy in the draft already. If we take a guy like Tkachuk or Brown I'm okay with taking Abramov, though I would prefer we take a flyer on Will Bitten, Alex DeBrincat or Matthew Phillips.

Re: hart
I saw him at a bunch of Silvertips games this year. Nothing blew me away that he should be the #1 goalie picked. He's ok I guess.

He's too skilled to make it out of the first round. There's a trio of teams at 20, 21, 22 that are on their 2nd first round pick and I would bet he goes to one of those teams.

(according to Elite Prospects, that is - http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=212641)
Does this improve or hurt his draft day stock? lol
