Not sure I'd like him as the Flames 6th overall pick, but...
my colleague E-Mac is definitely on the Logan Brown bandwagon.
He goes in-depth as to why he thinks the ginormous centreman's stock is all revved up and why he has the potential to be a #1 centre at the next level.

I am still intrigued by Brown.
Feel like you are just scratching the surface with what he could become.
Size, skill, skating ability, vision.
He seems to have it all but just hasn't put it together yet and even then was just as productive as Nylander was in the OHL.

He said why they underrate them. Because scouts don't factor in how much they go for in trade and thus defencemen are highly valuable commodities that on average will be worth more than an equivalent forward.
Flames management knows this and it's why I've been theorizing for months that they may have the defencemen slightly higher than some rankings. I think after Tkachuk/Dubois there's a falloff in the forwards and thus a defenceman or two or three are likely to be ahead of the next tier of forwards

So what time will the draft be and does anyone know if it's televised in the US?
For some reason, it's been impossible to find info on this on google.
Thanks in advance.

Not to sure about the time, but it should be on NBCSN featuring the TSN crew.

The broadcast starts at 7:00pm EDT on NBC-SN. The second through seventh rounds will probably be streamed on NHL.com.

Can we in Canada avoid watching Sportsnet? I assume not, short of using a VPN to get a US stream...

What? And miss the informative draft pick interviews, not to mention the Katz love ballad to Keef Jr?

One week to go. Can't wait. Should be exciting. Last few drafts I feel like we essentially knew who were getting between a couple guys. This one who really knows what could happen. I have in our scouting department.

Just cause...we've released our preliminary ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft. Not much to add for a 2016 discussion, but thought it'd be interesting nonetheless:

If you're using 6ths or 7ths on those types of guys, that's great because if they do pan out, it's great value. Auston Carroll, Adam Ollas Mattsson, Tim Harrison, and Riley Bruce are all good picks to infuse size and toughness into the organization.
Using 2nd's and 3rd's on those types is a waste. The players in the immediate area after Kanzig were Nick Baptiste, Mattias Janmark, and Anthony Duclair. In between the Smith and Hickey picks (54 & 64) the Flames could have had Christian Dvorak (121 pts this season in the OHL) or Brandon Montour (57 points as a D-man in the AHL, taken 1 and 4 picks after Smith.
Instead the Flames have an ECHL defenseman, and a forward that looks like he may take another 2-3 years before cracking the NHL lineup, if he does.
It would be fine if they added Bastian, Lindgren and Fredric, they just would not be getting the value they could going in other directions.

Agree 100%
And also why I hated the Burke quote where he mentioned prioritizing size in the later rounds.
Size is a preferred trait - meaning a guy that is big who is actually good enough to play is going to be going in the first 30-45 picks of the draft.
After that point big guys you draft usually can't play at a high level - if they could they would be ranked higher.
Later in the draft you should be focusing more on high end skill set and/or fixable flaws.
Maybe a guy has all the tools but is a poor skater (Jaime Benn) , maybe he has all the talent but is small (Gaudreau/Mangiapane), maybe it's a smooth skating d-man with questionable play in his own end (Brodie).
Those are the types of guys you should be focusing on in the later rounds - not guys who are just big for the sake of drafting big guys like Smith and Kanzig

I still don't see how the flames could pass on Sergachev at 6. Size, skill, physicality and according to most a higher value than a winger. I want, I want
