Chychrun is the riskier pick. In one of the compiled lists (I think McKenzie's), half the scouts didn't even have him in the top 10.

None of that is true, that guy is out to lunch. How many here would use the same description to evaluate Nik Lidstrom's game? I am not saying Juolevi is Lidstrom but he plays the same way. Just because he uses excellent stick work to strip players of the puck instead of trying to crush them does not make him soft.

Juolevi is soft when he has the puck in his zone. I've seen him cough up the puck in a Schultzian manner against a hard forecheck.
Not saying it won't be improved as he gains experience and goes up the league ladder - but I somewhat agree with RLR's opinion on him right now.

Well the main thing that made Lidstrom so good is that he never lost the battle.
You don't have to be physical as long as you come out with the puck every time, which Lidstrom did.
My main worry with Juolevi is that he wasn't tested as much defensively - lots of minutes with that elite first line means he wasn't spending as many "hard" minutes in the defensive zone where some weaknesses like the ones mentioned would appear.

Yet none of those weaknesses showed up in the WJC, he was outstanding.

He was outstanding all season for both teams - but with both teams he got lots of ice time with elite forwards though (Laine-Aho-Puljujarvi at the WJC).
The guy is a great prospect - I just don't know if I like his overall package at 6th overall especially with a propsect base that has similar strengths already.
Personally I see Chychrun and it reminds me of Ekblad and Jones. Both guys who were clear cut #1s coming into the season, and then expectations were so high and the scrutiny was so high that questions started to pop up close to the draft.

Agreed. TBQH I'm not sure he'll even have a better NHL career than Kylington when it's all said and done.

A quick search of NHL Central Scoutings final rankings for 2015 shows there were indeed scouts that had Crouse rated higher.

Watch his interviews...the kid's English is great, his favourite player is Drew Doughty (there is a physical resemblance) and he clearly wants to play in the NHL. Russian factor not a factor at all imo. I'd love for the Flames to grab this guy.

On the other hand, scouts and analysts don't seem to recognize how difficult it is to acquire reliable top-4 defencemen in the NHL these days, and consequently underrate defencemen at the draft. I'll be shocked if no d-men go in the top 8 of this draft.

Why would you think scouts underrate defensemen? Every team carries more forwards than defensemen so it's natural that more forwards are picked in the draft due to being part of a larger pool to which there are more spots in organizational depth charts.
