Only four Oilers forwards had any shots tonight. Of the eight shots from a forward, 4 were from McDavid

Yep. Nurse had second most with 3; gravel (!) next in a tie with DryByNight with 2.

He may decide to stay in sunny LA, no matter the result tomorrow.
Sounds like he’s confirmed in his time there that the debacle of the franchise is in fact real, and how lifezapping that organization actually is, for both players and coaches.

If they win, his talk to the press tonight about only playing well when you’ve been embarrassed and yelled at holds true. If they lose, they can’t even respond to that any more.

As mentioned, McLellan got fired after a bad weekend.

I can see Lowe via one of his puppets Nicholson, pull the pin on Chia this time...earlier than he wanted, but with the excuse of having a guy to evaluate the next 2 months and make changes and find the guys on the white horses on trade deadline day (hint - no players are waiving to come to Edmonton).

I see other than Larsson and RNH the rest of them were too embarrassed to show up for photos.

It's actually amazing how efficient they are at destroying talent. McDavid seems to be trending away from the bestest ever path. All the other first overalls have become shells of their potential.
They have absolutely nothing to show for the later rounds of the drafts, zero diamonds in the rough. They can't develop anyone, zero veteran leaders to grow the new players.

Making a shy phenom team captain in his first or second season had to be one of the dumbest moves ever. Now all the pressure is on him to carry that island of misfit toys.

 Wow just wow.
It's almost impossible how bad Chiapet had F'd up that team. He was gifted a fairly good set of players and assets to improve upon and has reached the unheard of "Milbury" levels of incompetence. I know this sounds stupid but Lowe or Tambellini would be an significant improvement.

The game against Anaheim will be the very definition of a must win. If the Oilers pull out a win they are still right there in wild card territory. If they lose they are 6 points out and moving south at a formidable pace. I could see Chiarelli fired if they lose this game.

I honestly can’t wait for the day I wake up to:
 [Trade] Edmonton trades McDavid, Jones, & 202_ 3rd to ___ for ____, ____, ____, ____, _____, 202_ 1st, 202_ 4th & 202_ 7th

You know it’s coming. Some day. Maybe soon.

Why would anyone find this even remotely scary? One more #1 pick is not the magic bullet.

True, I sometimes feel sorry for oiler fans but then the off season comes where they sign some B grade player to a 4 year contract and their fans and the fawning media become insufferable again proclaiming multiple cups to come.

What players, who have the talent to be considered a somewhat equal return for McDavid, and therefore will have a NMC, are going to waive, enmasse, to go to Edmonton (and nevermind Oiler cap restrictions, for sake of argument)?

Yes, it’s a coincidence. Asst. Coach Glen Gulutzan did not break the Edmonton Oilers. They have been broken for years.

Players not old enough to be eligible for NMCs.
