Tuners are adjustments from the developers for the gameplay technicalities. It's a semi formal way of doing quick and timely updates without having to put out a patch the issue can be addressed without it.
It's kinda like sliders for the developers. They can make things such as shot accuracy attributes and settings have more weight in an update, or tweak ice friction.
In your gameplay setting, you can set the tuner version to the default version that was in the game disc, upto any updates that have gone live since then.

Seems like it could be a widespread problem, WTF is it about? Never happened in NHL 10

It seems like your having syncing issues. That could be due to ports/firewall conflicts with your connection and EA severs. Make sure your router has the ports specified in the manual open.

Were there roster updates yesterday? I had to update rosters but if it was... Ryan Stone is still on the Flames without Morrison. Why does a damn roster update take so long? No Hall or Eberle on the oilers either.

There is so much that has become unacceptable with this series it is starting to make my head spin.
I mean, no game is perfect...but it seems as though the developers/producers aren't even striving for satisfactory.
The only thing I can do from my end is learn NOT to buy this game on release day, as it isn't really a finished product until both these rosters are released and the patch to repair 80% of the game.

Jobo,
What kinda situations occur internally where they don't fix the obvious problems on a title like this?
you have to assume they receive alot of data about what needs attention, and could keep fixing things, but alot of time has gone buy and the only thing that gets any decent attention to the consumers side is updated tuners.
I dont even notice tuners, I do notice the common bugs and slow roster updates. you'd think they could even do roster updates sooner, and maybe stat updates. the manhours for this research shouldnt be that high compared to the immense profits

I read on the EA forums that roster update will be out on Tuesday.
As an aside, posters on the EA forums are just as bad as YouTube commenters...)

Yea I've been reading the forums lots too, people are just at such a ridiculous level of frustration that you can tell there is no holding back, and no self filtering of what they are gonna say.
EA's leading the situation to be like this though, I'm sure they have been ignoring people for a long time.
The big excuse from all the mods on there is that microsoft and psn are not being cooperative in the finalizing of the download, but we know that is untrue since there are brand new games that are getting all of their patchs approved within DAYS of release, not months.
And there was some stuff mixed in the excuses about CHL scouts, but lets face it, this huge update is going to leave TONS of problems unaddressed, and we aren't even going to see players getting retuned, we will just have the right players put in the right leagues.

Where have you been hearing this? Completely false. It takes about several weeks for patches to be done. Then an approval period from Sony and Microsoft which can take weeks. So far the process looks to be going well, so the patch should be out within a couple weeks.

Moderator oilersguru (the mod taking most of the flack for EA right now..)
Oct 29th
It's in M$ and playstations hands guys... it has nothing to do with EA. (Posted at 6:08:43 a.m)
First it takes 10 working days. (Posted at 7:59:47 a.m.)
Oct 30th
The Info I gave you regarding M$ and PS.. was misleading.. and I do apoligize. This is what my old community manager used to have us say.
From all the years past this was always the case, but this years update is much larger then the past, way more players being created, etc
But I will remind you ... especially the ones who say they have been buying the game since 94, thi is the usual thime for the roster update to come out... Yes I know last year they had the NHL one out earlier.
I will also remind you that you were not lied to about any dates... some of you created your own dates by saying it would be out on the 25th etc.

What he said is true that it's been out of EA hands and now up to the first party to release it. That's why it's the waiting period. I don't necessarily see anything misleading in there.

Oilersguru is the biggest numskull over there. For a moderator, it is absolutely disgusting the way he treats and talks to the community. He has been false on more than one occasion and talks down his nose at people. He contradicts himself in those quotes you posted above (bolded).
How he obtained that position and more importantly how he maintains it is beyond my comprehension. The oilers part of his name should have tipped us off.

I haven't played it since mid September. I like the direction they are headed in, but they released a heavily bugged game and offered no support for it. It's quickly approaching 2 months since release, and no patch.
As a 90% offline gamer using BaGM, this is pretty shoddy work IMO.
The only thing I can do is learn from this experience and, if I really want to buy the next iteration, wait until a few months into release when they have fixed it and released proper rosters.
Hopefully, with the cash grab attitude that Electronic Arts is becoming famous for, they can afford to release a properly tested and functioning game. No game is perfect, but no game is this glitched up out of the box with zero support within the first 2-3 months.

Another round of bitching... So I'm in an elite semi-final playoff game against SabrePenguin, ranked 63 overall.
It's 1-0 for me after 1 and stays that way after 2. I get another mid-way through the third and when he realizes he's going to lose, he quits. 22 seconds left.
I get no win. Meaning I now have to play another game in the semis to get to the final.
What a crock.
So the key is just keep quitting the game until you win? That's what HUT is all about?
Btw, congrats eddieng for the high rank. Saw you up there trying to find this bozo who quit on me

Why wouldn't you just turn up the game speed then? Seems like an easy fix.

The thing that really ticks me off is that without a patch there's no point in starting a franchise, so I'm limited to playing other modes that I wouldn't normally use. This seemed all well and good, especially with the inclusion of the CHL, as I'd run through a season with the Hitmen. Too bad that the CHL mode is so incredibly filled with bugs that it's virtually unplayable.
I can forgive the occasional glitch or thing that fell through the cracks, but there are massive issues that I find it very hard to believe nobody noticed before shipment. CHL teams being able to sign anyone regardless of age? Freezes anytime certain teams are used? You're telling me a tester never discovered this?
NBA Elite was pulled because it was so filled with glitches and downright horrible development, interesting that David Litman headed up that monstrosity as well. Hopefully 2K can get their act together for next year as I'd really like to avoid another game with the issues of this one.

Thanks, that's me. Yeah that's the crap part of HUT...if he doesn't play a whole game then you're screwed and you can't move onto the next round. It's hard winning tournaments so usually i jus stick to the online single games because you still get the rank points if the person quits. Another thing is that person actually gets knocked out of the tournament, it just stops from you from advancing which is a d0uche thing to do. You can find him in the messages in the "recently played" or something like that.
