That pedestrian bridge is ridiculous. Look at all that red. It's going to be a magnet for vandals. I just know we're going to spend literally tens of dollars a year on red paint to fix it up.

Shame on you silly hall.

For all the hoopla and media "The Bow" has received, 8th Avenue place has quietly been a solid addition to the Calgary skyline. It jumped ahead of both Bankers Hall buildings to be the 3rd tallest building in Calgary, shadowing Bankers Hall when looking from the West

Just a shame it had to remove Penny Lane to get there

And it's only 3m shorter than Suncor. I can't believe they didn't push it a little higher to take second place.

Does anybody know why the arch of the big red pedestrian bridge is slanted the opposite way of the station arches at Shaganappi?

I notice this twice every day on my way to and from work. This really upsets my inner autistic need to have everything arranged just right.

Probably because it's on a hill?

I think he means the fact that the 24 St bridge is skewed to the North (I call it crooked to the North), while Shag Pt. station is "skewed" towards the South.

Ah . . . I thought it was the East / West tilt he was talking about.

one good sticky snow storm, i'd hate to be the guy underneath when the snow deceides to slide off and come down in one huge clump 30 feet below...

That's the problem with Calgary; copper doesn't really turn green since its so dry, it just goes black as it tarnishes.

If they want it to "green" they'll need to apply oxidizing solutions every so often....but I doubt that since the logistics of spraying that whole thing would be pretty awkward for pedestrians below.

I've seen a few new houses with copper accents above windows and doors, and they still look new after 2-3 years when I first noticed them. Is there a way to treat copper roofs/panels or coat them so they remain copper in colour without requiring further maintenance?
