I'm curious what the problem is which threads like Random Thoughts threads. I personally don't care that much, I'm more curious on why they should shut them down. Don't they bring people to the site which means more views and money?

I think the less we average posters dig into the locking of those threads the better. I say that, because a friend of mine...

Kevanguy just posted in teh random thoughts thread, saying they talked about it and decided that those kinds of threads bring down the quality of the OT forum.

Oh well RTT was good just for a quick question or thought instead of a new thread IMO.

They're worried about the quality of OT threads? Seems a little odd to me.

Got to be honest, that's disappointing. But my opinion doesn't matter.

Yeah, it's very dissapointing. I didn't see the harm in it, but they may be seeing something we're not.

Maybe it was detracting from other, good, new threads being started? I was just thinking how much I enjoyed the hip-hop posts that were done recently. But I guess the hip-hop discussion could have been a separate thread, but instead got lost in the RTT which not everyone reads.

I am kind of disappointed, I loved the random thread especially, it was always the first thing I checked on CP. A lot of other threads I'm mostly just a lurker anyway.

I know what you mean. Random thoughts was kind of like a home base. I would check that thread out because there was always something being said, and then I'd check other threads as posts were made. Now I find myself looking at all the threads on the first page and kind of going "meh", and then leaving.

I think the only sensible solution would be to give me mod powers so I can split off the posts in a rtt that are worthy of being their own thread. Mostly because they really get in the way of the chatting and flirting.

This thread is gonna get locked at this rate as well...

I'm probably not going to post nearly as much (stop clapping!) because most of what I have to say is not worth a thread on its own. Am I alone in this - somehow I doubt it.

I further doubt the quality of the OT forum will go up, I'd guess there'll just be less posts overall, and not a shift to the same number of posts but in different and more interesting topics. Guess we'll see.

I don't know why a community thread would be a problem per se. But if that's the new policy, that's the new policy.

That's how I see it too. Who I really feel bad about is Resalien, lol. Man, that guy's going to go from dozens of posts per day to nothing.

I think that's always been the policy. The millionth post thread got locked for that reason too.
