However, I did find out what I consider to be "disappointing" news today.
White Text from here on:
Just surfing around re: Dexter today, I came across a great Interview with Lithgow. J.L. is so genuinely excited to be playing the Quadrinity Killer, It's nice to see and I'm sure he'll get an Emmy Nom for his role.
Now the Info that will make for an extremely long Winter, Spring and Summer. I watched an Interview with Julie Benz (Rita) where She revealed that the finale will be "Shocking" (We all new that already) and unlike the previous 3 Seasons, The Season 4 Fianle of Dexter will be different.
Interviewer:"One of the reason I like Dexter so much is because every season sort of wraps up story lines but still leaves a little bit hanging for the following season"
Julie Benz:"No, We have a MajorCliff Hanger this Season".
I was really hoping the writers weren't going to go this route, Oh well.
I won't say much more because obviously many haven't watched yet. Wow. Just wow.

If you haven't watched the finale yet, GTFO of this thread! You are ruining it for yourself by even thinking about clicking in here.
I was a bit disappointed with the first half of the episode, just because I thought it would be a more intense Dexter vs Trinity showdown, lots of action, going back and forth. But the ending was worth it. When that phone rang, wowowowowowow
Dexter reached all new levels of awesomeness with that ending. Oh my god.....my jaw is on the floor.
The ending rivals the Shield's season 5 ending when Shane killed Lem........in fact, it's probably more shocking.
I knew something was coming, but did not see that happening whatsoever. Season 4 was maybe the strongest IMO. From episode to episode, it had me absolutely engaged. I wasn't a huge fan of season 3 at all, so this definitely made up for it.
Where does the show go from here?? So many questions.......unreal. I'm still in shock.

Interesting that Dexter isn't sad that Rita is dead but only concerned about Harrison.
Trintiy's comments at the end are so much more brilliant knowing that he has killed Rita. As far as targeting Dexter first it can easily be justified that he wanted revenge after his daughter commited suicide in front of Deb. Although if his picutre were to get out and Trinity's family was watching it would all come out.
Next year it will be Dexter killing people wearing a Baby Bjorn and Harrison will have his own baby sized face shield
Just when I thought they had tied up all the loose ends with a pretty bow...they drop that whopper of an ending!!! My wife and I were in shock, and yeah being parents and seeing baby Harrison sitting in his mother's blood had a very chilling effect.
As for the episode, I thought the showdown with Trinity was a bit anti-climatic. I had hoped for more of a cat and mouse episode with the two going after each other. In the end I guess Arthur got his revenge in a much more personal and sadistic way.
I loved the scene where Debra tells Dexter who he is. Great interaction between the two. Alot of other great scenes tonight...but wow...still in shock about that ending!
After all these years of seeing this thread and having images of Dexter's lab in my head, I clicked it on.
So this Dexter show...it's about a serial killer who disguises himself in ordinary life? I might like this. American Psycho is one of my favorite movies.

If you want to watch the show stay the hell out of this thread. I'm only doing you a favour when I say that.
There are MAJOR spoilers for this past season if you have never seen the show.
But yeah, pretty much the best show on TV right now.
My thoughts on tonights episode:
Knowing that there was a major cliffhanger type incident I was guessing that Trinity killed some or all of Dex's family, especially after the Debra finding out about Dex thing kind of went nowhere.
That was an amazing episode. I agree that the Dex/Trinity showdown was a little anti climactic.
I feel bad she's gone. I really liked the married Dexter angle.
I'll have more to say but I just can't think of anything right now, I'm still in shock.
Oh and T@T if the scenario in your edit turned out to be true my head would explode and I would actually hunt down and kill the writers for Dexter.
In white because some dummys who haven't watched it yet still open this thread.
I'm interested in seeing how Dexter explains to the cops why Trinity would target his family before he skips town!
Next Sept can't come fast enough.
Edit: To follow up on my previous comment. Batista saw Dexter with Trinity...It's not going to be easy !!!
But of course this whole Rita thing dead in the tub could turn out to be one of Dexters dreams !!
SPOILERS HERE
Not typing this in white, if you entered this thread tonight knowing it was the finale, and it has now aired everywhere, without seeing it than you were begging for spoilers
I think its pretty easy to explain, at the time no one "knew" he was trinity so they will all just assume that trinity got in to the police station and was looking for Debra/Dexter for revenge.
So it will probly just be explained as that, and I think Rita is dead. Here is an interview with the executive producer
Quote:
When was the decision made to kill off Rita?
CLYDE PHILLIPS: I would say we made the decision pretty late in the season. We didn’t quite know what we were going to do [in the finale].
Why Rita?
PHILLIPS: The story evolved and it kind of became inevitable. We knew that we had to do more than kill Trinity. It’s a little bit of a corner that we paint ourselves into. Last year we tried to avoid that and actually I think we didn’t do as well as we could have. We killed off Jimmy Smits’ character [in the 11th episode] of 12 episodes and then we had to figure out what we were going to do in the 12th episode. This season, we knew that we were going to take Trinity out in the 12th episode and we think that the audience knew that, too. We had to raise the bar to as high as possible and then figure out what to do next year.
How did Julie Benz take the news that she was leaving the show?
PHILLIPS: She wasn’t happy. She loved being with us. We loved having her with us. She took it… professionally. She was greatly disappointed. She’s a professional. She works in television. She knew that this was a possibility.
Did Trinity tell Rita about Dexter before he killed her?
PHILLIPS: I don’t know the answer to that question. We haven’t talked about next season. But [my gut says] I would think that he did not tell her.
Might she return as a ghost like Dex’s dad?
PHILLIPS: The answer, at he moment, is no. However, had you asked me two years ago if Lundy was coming back I would’ve said no. We didn’t know he was coming back until this year. It just seemed expedient to the story — to Dexter’s story and to Deb’s story.
Some people thought the game-changing twist was going to involve Deb figuring out that Dexter is a serial killer. How much longer can you stretch out that story before you pay it off?
PHILLIPS: We’ve bounced that around the [writers] room. But once we do that… want to talk about game-changers? Once we do that, the game is changed in a way that we just don’t know how to anticipate just yet.
Will next season be about Dexter juggling serial killing and single fatherhood?
PHILLIPS: He is a single father. But, beyond that, we don’t know. We don’t know if there’s going to be what we call “a Big Bad,” like Jimmy Smiths and John Lithgow, or if it’s going to be more individual, stand-alone stories.
I understand you wrote two endings to throw people off. What was the other ending?
PHILLIPS: While Dexter was packing to leave, he saw on the television that a child murderer had just escaped from prison. Either escaped or fallen thru the cracks. So he’s thinking, “Do I join Rita on vacation or do I…” and then he looks towards the camera and he has this big decision.
That would’ve been disappointing.
PHILLIPS: [Laughs] Yeah. Compared to this? Are you kidding?
