gotta agree with Jiri - average talent in this draft. Sutter might get the guy he always wanted and another pick to boot

Trading for more picks gave us Boyd...

Me too. After 16, I was hoping they'd trade down. But only a 3rd?

Okay everyone calm down, lets see who the Flames pick before having a melt down.

Ducks pick Macmillan.

Why do people want Esposito? Half the NHL doesn't want him. Why do we? I wouldn't be surprised if Sutter trades down again for an extra pick.

Maybe Sutter jedi mind tricked everybody else and will get Esposito at 24 anyway.

Good move by Sutter. He's still going to get a good player at 24 and he helped plug the lack of picks the Flames have in this draft. That could have put a hole in their development system. Just too bad he couldn't get a 2nd rounder rather than a 3rd. Who knows, the way Esposito is falling he'll probably still be there at 24 anyway.

70th pick. That would be the 3rd round.

Still good.

I like the trade, it's smart. Clearly they have somebody in mind and can pick him, while adding another pick later on.

So, if Esposito falls to us again, do we trade the 24th for the 29th and a fourth rounder?

The only way Sutter gets a 2nd in that deal is a team really wanted Espo - and its becoming VERY clear that most teams simply don't.

He got a 3rd because that's what he could get.
