Folks who wanna lock up Zary long term should be cautious. Mangiapane was a stud around here for a handful of seasons before entering a continuous decline. Injuries aside, he hasn't been good enough for a longer term contract. Unless, the aav is under 3m on a long-term deal, it's a pointless risk.

It won't be under 3m on a long term deal, c'mon.
I get that a bridge might make more sense given the injuries, but he is a more well rounded player than Mang ever was. (Stud for a handful of seasons?).
It will be way under Coronato, but anything around 5 longer term is great IMO.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I think you’re being a bit hard on Z- his only true negative is his injuries, which have perhaps hindered his developmental timeline. He’s done great for a youngster on a defensive squad, and when he breaks out, it will be huge. Mang was small, and not that great of a skater, which made his effectiveness wane when he wasn’t producing.

I'm too lazy to look uo magianpanes stats, but I believe he was more of an outlier season that came at the wrong time for treliving.

His goal totals were 17, 18, 35, 17, 14, 14 with the 35 goal season being the one that got him that contract. Similarly his point totals were 32, 32, 55, 43, 40, 28. He was an outlier explosive season that got him paid rather than a continually declining player.

yeah, and I think many fans here were skeptical at the time too. Felt like an outlier at the time, and unfortunately, that's exactly what it was. Conroy did well to get a 2nd for him.
