It was Ftorek, not Julien I think. It was Larry Robinson who took over.
A couple years later Ftorek was fired by the Bruins in a similar fashion - late in the season with a good record.
EDIT: Lou did fire Julien almost the same way, but that was in 07. He hired Sutter the next season but he never got out of the first round and was fired two years later.
He is up there. I think the "worst" player to have a 100 point season was Rob Brown. The guy had hands but his overall game wasn't good enough for the NHL. He needed to be with Mario Lemieux in order to put up points.
At least the Nug can play the game on his own merit but that 100 point season was a fluke.
Rob Brown 115 points in 68 games.
I wonder how many points I could have had playing on a line with Mario. I mean I would have been 9/10 that season, and had never played hockey - but I'm sure Mario could have gotten me a good 80 points.
Mackinnon has hit a bit of a different level at 5v5. Mackinnon and McDavid are the two best players in the world and it's easily debatable who is number 1.

Connor McDavid - 24 goals. 6 to go. Go get 'em, Champ!
Zach Hyman - 22 goals, 8 to go, a 36-goal season pace for the balance of the year. Sounds doable.
Jeff Skinner - 11 goals, 19 to go. Can he manage an GPG pace? Tune in to find out!
The Tenderness - 16 goals, 14 to go. 63 goal pace for the balance! Must be doable for this first overall pick who was picked ahead of scrubs like Kucherov, Gaudreau, Scheifele, Landeskog, and Miller.
Viktor Arvidsson - 8 goals. 22 to go. Great prediction for someone that last hit 30 goals in 18-19.
Evander Kane - More likely to have 30 creditors than 30 goals.
As a Flames fan I'm a bit concerned to be honest. I was hoping his play would start to fall off AFTER he signs a monster contract that handcuffs the Oilers.

Sure would be something if the great McDavid was below 30 goals on the season
I sure hope he is. Then someone can find the tweet that Spector did saying something around "are we really celebrating 30 goals in a season" when Ovi hit 30 last year.

He's getting the monster contract or leaving don't you worry

Here’s the thing. Oilers have no option except to offer max on July 1. If Mavi feels that he is declining, he will sign. If oilers don’t offer max, well that’s a real slap in the face and Mavi won’t sign.
Anything else indicates a negotiation and the possibility that Mavi walks.
Nom nom nom delicious!
