Well, there is a budget (ie no more guys like Martin Nash) and a trust/familiarity factor, as this was more or less the setup a few years back at Foothills (along with Leon) before Cavalry was around, and Jay was also in Tommy's spot as TD.
And though this is likely a permanent move, this is basically an inseason move, where any other coaches they may be looking at would be somewhere by now, and certainly not up to speed in the squad as Jay would be.

I've seen Jay run a lot of sessions for Foothills U23s (and other teams), and he does run great sessions, and has a good soccer mind. He's very different from Leon though. Much quieter. Has a great relationship with those kids, and they respect him, so I don't think that'll change with the Cavs players. Don't think he'll be as focused on set pieces, but let's be honest...if they want to make some new set pieces, they can Google them. It's about execution, and how much they practice them, so we'll see if there's as much of a focus.
I just brought up the set pieces because that was one area Cavalry was so dominant and far ahead of everyone else in. Would be nice to keep that up
Cool to hear you say how respected Jay is as a coach by the groups he’s worked with. Really important and something we as fans don’t appreciate as much, but it is really the most important part of coaching in my opinion

Not sure where else to ask this but are you playing in the Nations Cup this year?

TBD. Been out for 7 months with a stubborn knee injury. Trying to play my first game tomorrow to see if Nations is in the cards. If it doesn't go well, I'll be on the bench at the very least. (Team Canada O35).

Interesting that the club would opt NOT to include the Canadian Championship first round vs. Vancouver FC as the "15th ticket" in everyone's season tickets.
I would think that it would be better to include it to get more bums in the seats, being April, before the regular season starts, etc. If we advance past the first round, I would think that Vancouver Whitecaps in May and/or a playoff match would be easier to actually sell tickets for.
Unless they're banking on advancing and wanting a really full house for the Whitecaps by making that the included ticket, but to me, that match sells itself.
I'd wait until the tickets go on regular sale tomorrow.
FYI I have two season tickets in 201, and if anyone in interested is buying some at cost which is like $70 for the pair let me know, Especially Saturday afternoon games which don't always work well for me. Exception to the forge games. FTF
