It’s probably Murray Edwards.
Or Chucky. He doesn’t seem like a guy willing to share the spotlight.
Or maybe Conroy. Because he just talks too damn much.
I mean, it’s almost certainly complete BS but if it were true, which it isn’t, those would be my guesses.

Closer to home, gets away from a hockey mad market. Time to settle down and have a family.

You're the one who read a different poster saying the Flames could do a sign-and-trade that moved Gaudreau to Philly, and then said I made up a stupid scenario that was of no benefit to Columbus.
I think I can tell which one of us has trouble with reading comprehension. And nobody is butthurt by your incapacity at all.

Granted, if I was someone with a limited set of skills, skills that are perishable, and a limited period of opportunity...I'd probably have wanted to maximize my opportunity to profit from those skills.
$18M is a big piss to take.

It's weird but this sort of odd outcome kind of absolves Tre even more for me. I mean how do you negotiate with that unpredictability!

Uhhhh okay....
Less money then Calgary. Nowhere near his supposed desired location of being close to his family. Definitely not a childhood team that he dreamed to be a part of. Literally the only thing I can think of is his wife has some kind of roots there, or he loves the cannon so much he desires setting it off so he can hear it every home game.
Truly one of the last places I ever thought he'd end up. This makes it all the more bittersweet since this is such a....strange destination. I have a hard time believing this was the most money he could get.
Stellar deal for the CBJ though. Congrats to them, they will love watching him play. Especially for that price. Would have gladly taken him on the Flames for that and I suspect many other teams too.
So so so strange. But good luck I guess LOL.

It’s untrue anyway. They got rid of Hartley.

I’m guessing he didn’t like the idea of going to a Philly market where he’s just as likely to be booed off the ice if he fails to bring them a cup or to jersey where there are other potential stars who might hold him accountable or usurp him as the star.
Columbus is a wasteland for talent with no expectations and no fishbowl situation. He can ride out the rest of his career and continue to have playoff series where he puts up 0G and 1A and is -5 for the rest of his days in relative peace.

My guess is Tkachuk. Always seems to me to be the type to rub people the wrong way and there were rumours that him and Giordano didn’t get along. Then there was the team meeting stuff about his after the play antics and the overreaction of no team response to the Muzzin puck flip when really just no one saw it happen. Never once saw Johnny and Tkachuk together.

He'll certainly have a lot less to spend his money on there.

Man, you gotta stop quoting that guy. There's probably a lot of people here who are happier not seeing his posts.

I don't really think this was a slap to Calgary's face. I doubt Johnny's preferred destination was Columbus. What makes this weird is if the rumours of NJ's offer is true.
That would mean he only wanted to play for Philly and they couldn't make it work.
