The yes campaign for 2026 just launched. If you’re a supporter or even just yes curious, you can sign up to get involved, be an ambassador, just receive info, etc.

I'd love to be an ambassador.

Does it come with diplomatic plates?

What do the options listed mean? Volunteer / ambassador roles / attend events / etc? For example, is "attending events" to mean attend actual Olympic events, or events to do with the bid?

Events related to the yes campaign. Meetings and rallies and the like.

Ambassador is someone who wants to be a type of spokesperson - someone wanting to publicly articulate their support.

Volunteer could mean phone calling before plebiscite, door knocking, raising money, handing out stickers at street festivals and stuff.

I was wondering that the logo is intended to represent. I see the big red check mark but am I the only one that thinks it looks like the Sydney Opera House?

I'm a more casual viewer of the World Cup than the Olympics, though I've watched most of the games. IMO the 'show off to the world' argument is far, far less relevant to World Cup than the Olympics. Watching on TV, you don't get any sense of a place - so it's limited to the teams and fans that make the trip in terms of getting an impression. It will be especially diluted for a World Cup that spans our entire continent.

I'm a geography buff (though don't know much about Russia) - all I've learned from watching World Cup is that there is a city named Kazan that I'd never heard of. Now I've googled it, and know where it is.

I have a far better sense of the PyeongChang area, though I'll admit it isn't much higher on my places to visit list.

Games at Commonwealth will look good and plus they will draw in people from the world including BC and sadly Saskatchatoon

Largely agree, but one of the games had some amazing footage of St. Petersburg.

What strings are attached to the $926 million that the IOC is offering?

I believe the whole document is public. It's mostly pretty mundane requirements.

is this along the lines of what they usually offer everyone, or are the numbers a concession to the new realities of trying to find host cities?

I'm not familiar with what the IOC usually offers a host city.

Support for a Calgary 2026 Winter Olympics bid has dropped in the past few months, a new poll suggests.

The poll, conducted for CBC News, suggests that 50 per cent of Calgarians support a bid — a number that has fallen seven percentage points since March.

The poll, done by Janet Brown Opinion Research, suggests opposition to a bid sits at 44 per cent.

Outside of Calgary, support for a bid is slightly stronger but a downward trend has been found among those respondents as well.

First thing that comes to mind for me is the cross beams of the peace bridge - maybe that's what it's trying to evoke?

It does look a lot like the Opera House logo.
