I wonder if the delay in making it official has to do with being creative with the roster limit deadline? Not having Jagr official delays cutting one more player until he is official. Maybe the Flames’ plan is to waive another player to fit Jagr in, but it didn’t get done today, and they have to get under the roster limit by tomorrow afternoon.
I.e. The Flames want to sign Glass, and keep Jankowski up, but can’t do both AND sign Jagr before someone else is waived and sent down.

Flames may not make Jagr deal official for another few days. Club working on immigration issues. Jagr not expected in Calgary until Wed.

Replying to @PierreVLeBrun
The upside is that it gives the Flames some time to make final roster decisions by Tuesday deadline before they officially add Jagr to it

They could waive someone or send them down at will. However if they're working on trading Brouwer, that would explain it.

Jagr Czech interview (translation provided by Google). He confirms he will not arrive in time to play on Wednesday
http://isport.blesk.cz/clanek/hokej-...m-lyzovat.html
Quote:
It is a hectic waiting for him, this will not be easy to live with the new environment at the age of forty-five. But Jaromir Jagr could even joke at the address of his new address. "It's not Florida, but I can learn to ski on old knees," he laughed at Albert's imagination of stiff frost.
What is it? Relief? Joy?
"Mixed feelings. On the one hand, I've been waiting for it for a long time, at the same time it's been a lot of time. It is not very nice to go to a new team and go play games right now. Without knowing someone, he spent some training with the team ... I have not played the game for five months, so there will not be any good start. "
What eventually decided for Calgary? Offer St. Louis was very similar ...
"Virtually the same. Calgary ... (exhale) It was one of the teams that had been there since the beginning. St. Louis did not sound until the players were injured. The chances that some guys will come back during the season would probably push me off. No matter how I play. I believe in Calgary that it will be open and it will depend on me. "
Do you feel like fitting into their style?
"I do not know. It's hard to say ... "
It's talking about a million dollar contract plus another million as a bonus. The money was not enough?
"Few would offer you more in my years. On the other hand, there is no pressure. (laughing) Being the worst player on the team is not bad at all. No one wants me fifty, sixty points a season. The third, fourth line is fine. "
Did you even decide to know a little Glen Gulutzan coach?
"Yeah, we had fun together. He led me in Dallas, so we were somehow connected. So I have some idea. "
How did you fight against Flames last year? Is it possible to trace something?
"We've lost us there ... And they also lost at home ... So it was not much against them. Two years ago we came with a series of about thirteen wins in a row and after the first third we got 0-5. We'll see. "
How fast is your move now?
"I will not go to Florida, it's not time. So, as soon as possible to Calgary, I will not get on Wednesday in the first match, that's clear. So join the training with the team, which would be a bit of a problem for me, I did not train with the team for five months. Let's see when they can get in. "
Is Canada special for you? First engagement in this country ...
"It will be interesting. I never played there, one of the reasons it was, I wanted to experience it. At 99.9 percent, that's my last season in the NHL, so I can say that at least once in my career I've been in Canada. "
How does the hard winter affect you? After Florida, it will be a great jump.
"Florida can not be compared, that's clear. Let's see what he does with me. Maybe I'll learn to ski my old knees. Everything has gone a long way. "
Did you also remember the match you once played against Calgary in Prague in 1989?
"My first for the representation. I was seventeen years old, a different situation ... Symbolic. "

Honestly, if you don't get a chance to watch Jagr play live in a Flames jersey, I will consider that a crime against humanity.
Listen up CP, we all need to chip in and make this a reality for calgaryboy. His passion for the flames is unparalleled around here, and now he can watch one of his idols play for his favorite team. I will not sit idly by and watch as this opportunity slips away from him.
I'm asking that we start a Go Fund Me page or something for him so that he can come to Calgary this year and watch at least one game. I don't know what the cost would be, so maybe calgaryboy can help determine what he needs to get over the hump and let us know.
I'm committing $100 of my own money to this cause right now. Who's with me?
|
Pm sent to Aeneas
I'm not sure we need a go fund me, but I'm in as well

I’d be surprised if he’s the worst player on the team as he predicts.
Also, figured he’d already learnt how to ski and that he would be a modern day Alberto Tomba as far as the apres ski swagger he’d have.

Visa issues probably. And accumulating enough Czech hair products to get him through the cold dry air here.

Curious as to what the organisation's expectations are for this signing. I'd expect it's mentoring the youngsters with limited contributions on offence and nothing more.

Yeah, I said that was going to be an issue when the news first leaked that he was close to signing. Those pesky visas can hold things up.
