Not sure how they are rated but if the method is sound I can not understand why some of you would have spent big bucks on Bishop when Elliott is only 3 places lower.

That's a ranking for fantasy leagues. Not an actual goaltending ranking.

Grubauer with Johnson as insurance seems a decent bet.

Originally voted darling, now I'd like either Grubauer or Miller. One because of that sleeper number one, and one because he'd be a good stop gap.

Sure, except that Murray was their goalie last year when they won the Stanley Cup. Murray isn't a future goalie prospect. He's their #1 goalie right now and if he hadn't been injured in the pre-skate before Round 1 Game 1 he'd have been playing all these games MAF is playing.

The really interesting name that stands out is Aaron Dell at 11th. With 70% quality starts as a backup. Just not sure how quality of competition might inflate those numbers though.

Buffalo had two good ones in Robin Lehner and Anders Nilsson this year.

Aaron Dell played for the Heat a few years ago for a handful of games.
Put up good numbers too.

Yes but Bishop was only 42nd. My point is that some on here wanted to spend big bucks to get Bishop. The two we've got are just as good.

Haha. Based on what? Last years stats?
Ever heard of a down year for a goalie?
It happens to just about every single one of them.
Maybe combine all their stats over the last 4-5 seasons and then tell me Elliott and Johnson are as good as Bishop.

Flames need two options. Best way to do it is to get a veteran with a history of being a starter (Fleury, Halak, Mason, Miller) AND a young goalie who has backed up in the NHL and with potential to turn into a starter (Pickard, Grubauer, Raanta).
Sadly, I think this means no Chad Johnson. Only way you bring back Johnson is if you can land a legit number 1 like Bishop or Schneider.

Since the 2011-12 season, guess which goalie has the best GAA (among goalies with at least 50 GP)?

With Johnson 29th, 0.02 goal per game more than Fleury, which translates to 1 extra goal in 50 games.

I honestly believe Fleury is the most overrated starter in the league. He goes on some great hot streaks, but he's pretty average most of the time. I just don't see how he is worth almost $6 million against the cap plus assets to acquire him. Fleury is successful because of the team in front of him.
