He's mistaken. No back to backs in this series. Right there on the 1st page.

My calendar on my phone got pushed the schedule and it incorrectly has the Flames and Anaheim playing 19th, 20th, 22nd, and 24th. I was also confused and had to go to the NHL website to seek clarification. It looks like the interweb took games 5-7 from the Edmonton series and tacked it on to ours.

No. 4: Calgary Flames

Why you should get on board: They're young, fun to watch, and have a surprisingly decent shot at winning a round or two. Johnny Gaudreau is great, Brian Elliott is putting together a nice little comeback story, Brian Burke is going to be wearing his tie like a bandana by game three and they haven't assaulted a linesman in over a year.

Also, they didn't get here by just repeatedly lucking out in the lottery like some teams we could mention.

Why you shouldn't: The Flames drew a tough matchup with the Ducks, a team they just can't seem to beat in Anaheim. Not being able to win on the road is kind of an issue when you're, you know, the road team.

Bottom line: The Flames are a great pick, and with a slightly better matchup they'd be even higher on the list.

Hockey Central at Noon today Darren Millard took Calgary in 7, Nick Kypreos took Calgary in 6 and Doug McLean took Anaheim in 6.

Elliott Friedman and David Amber both chose Calgary to advance as well.

Kinda surprising how many Eastern broadcasters/analysts are actually picking the Flames over the Ducks!

Kevin Allen of USA Today was on NHL Network radio this morning and also picked the Flames. Dave Poulin on TSN thinks they're due as well. There is an odd amount of optimism in the media.

That's the problem when you keep rolling up on a team, at some point they become due, they might still be a inferior team, but they'll suddenly just start getting breaks and pull the upset

Kind of like the flames and Oilers this year.

Does that not bother you when the general consensus here is that the eastern media knows nothing about the Flames? Or is this obviously a sign they've finally done their homework?

In this case they've obviously done their homework.

Agree - they have done their homework. The Flames/Ducks series is looking like one of the most highly anticipated series in the first round. The pundits know that the Ducks are a strong, deep, experienced team. But they also realize that the Flames have improved in a lot of areas compared to two years ago, and wont be an easy out, and in fact may be the surprise of the first round.

Great that Monahan is healthy. The first line will have to produce for the Flames to have a chance.

I doubt any player is 100% after an 82 game schedule. I think Monahan will be fine. Not to worried about a missed practice 3 days before the first game.
