Fully agree. I have no problem with him and his charity work etc., but taking shots at teams/people in the game just makes him look like a dick. His comments are all about making PK look good in his own mind, maybe a little self reflection on why he wasn't so well received by management and some teammates may go further in pushing his brand.
And for what it's worth, he doesn't do any more charitable work than Shea Weber does.

A little context goes a long way, considering he made these comments at a Just for Laughs gala.
No need to lambast the guy, yeesh...

Shea Weber has a hospital wing named after him for donating $10 million to the hospital?
I'm sure he does charity work and is generally a great guy, but that level of philanthropy is pretty uncommon even among NHL players.

The only time Molsons is acceptable is if Coors is the other choice.

Haven't seen a link where Weber donated $10 mill to a hospital. Till then Subban wins the charity work race.

No I meant it. If you donate do it quietly and out of the goodness of your heart. PK is doing it for self-promotion. How much have we heard about PK's $10 mil? PK is about PK and it is my feeling that he uses his charitable causes to promote PK. How much press will be called by PK's "people" every time PK goes back to that hospital. How about writing the checks and going through the back door to visit the sick children PK?
If he was traded from the Flames and slagged players/ management (even veiled as a joke) people would be up in arms. In light of the trade the polite thing to do would have been to decline the invite to a comedy festival in his old back yard. Not slag his former team/ manager and coach.
Dude's a wildcard on the ice (selfish) and off and his former team knows it. The amount of PK love on this forum actually kind off surprises me.

First, I don't care. It's ten ####ing million dollars going to help sick kids. If he gets a tax writeoff and benefits him in terms of PR, I don't care. It could very well result in fewer dead children. End of moral analysis. Figure your damn priorities out, man.
Second, that's not even the case. A few years ago, the Sedins donated some ludicrous amount to the BC Children's hospital and asked for the donation to be anonymous. The hospital basically requested that it be publicized to the greatest extent possible because that actually helps them secure more funding through the resulting publicity. So even the PR is also good for sick kids.

"The huge gift is not just the dollar amount, but that we're getting tremendous exposure for the campaign," said Stephen Forgacs, director of communications for the B.C. Children's Hospital Foundation.
"We asked if we could put out a release."

Honestly I kind of want to go get a PK Preds jersey.

Who cares if PK is flamboyant about donating the money. If he wants to be recognised, then who cares. At the end of the day, the money he donates/raises will go to literally save the lives of sick children. That is all that matters. He can dance on top of the Eiffel Tower naked with a big sign that proclaims his charitable feats for all I care.
I don't really care if PK's intentions deep down are to simply promote himself (which I don't believe to be true). The sick kid who gets the cancer treatment he/she desperately needs and lives to see another day is ALL that matters. PK is responsible for bringing attention to that.
And why should he turn down a chance to appear on Just for Laughs in light of the trade? That's a silly reason to turn down an appearance.

The one I respect most out of all of this is Shea Weber who kept quiet and will go about his business playing hockey.

At the end of the day, tax-deduction or otherwise, hes funding a Children's Hospital. Its a very honourable gesture regardless of the fact that he gets some personal benefit.

Weber being the private, quiet leader is an awesome teammate to have. But one thing you always hear from fans is that the NHL lacks personality and they often fail to promote their players the way the NBA or NFL does.
I think PK doing things how he does is a fantastic way to bring that change around to the NHL. We all want players who appear to have fun, are sociable and attract fans. As long as it's done in a classy way. PK certainly breaks the mould of robotic players who simply repeat what the teams' PR guy tells them to say. There's a reason 'Boring' Sean Monahan has that reputation.
How he acts might rub some people the wrong way. It might intimidate them. But guys like him who act like him are what the league needs these days. The NHL recently has been a 'boring' product. Why shouldn't the league take notice of a guy like PK who can obviously work the media and bring attention to certain subjects?
The league is run by the 'old boys club'. It's was apparent with how the whole John Scott thing went down for the all-star break. And it wouldn't surprise me if team executives tried to muzzle PK one day soon. But as a fan I think it's great for exposure. I hope he keeps doing what he does. I don't think we'll ever have to worry about PK becoming the attention seeker like say Sean Avery was.

Actually - I would respect Shea Weber more if he also donated 10 freaking million dollars to a hospital charity.
Hell, I would respect anyone more if they donated 14% of their total income over the next 8 years. I know I'm not that good a human being for doing that.
LOL.
I absolutely hate it when as soon as a hockey player shows some personality, they get crucified, like P.K.
I loved the trade - because now I can actually cheer him on in Nashville.

Subban deserves all the praise and attention that he gets from his donations of time and (large) dollars to charity.
But don't trash your old team on the way out - that's bad form.

PK should probably have threatened to pull his children's hospital donations if he doesn't like the turn out of the next election
