Jankowski never played in the game they were eliminated in due to illness. I'd imagine that you'd have to be down with something pretty bad, if you don't play a game that is your entire season on the line. Burke is Providence Alumnus, and Jankowski has never indicated anything less than signing here. I'd imagine that the real reason there is no update on contract status is because they are letting him deal with illness, the loss, and everything surrounding the situation. There's no need to worry about whether he will sign or not. He will.

Never played in the entire game* Sat out the extra time frames, and was limited on ice throughout.

Jankowski's more of a mystery box than a boat.

I think we'd all rather have the mystery box. I mean, a boat's a boat, but a mystery box could be anything! It could even be a boat! And that's what we've always wanted.

True, which is why I try not to get too high or too low on them. Anointing him as anything outside of a project is pretty much a shot in the dark. If we sign him, then great. If not, then at least there is a decent compensatory pick in it for us. It seems like late 1st round draftees typically depreciate over their next few seasons after being drafted, so a 2nd rounder a few seasons later is OK by me. With a few exceptions, 1st round picks outside of the top 15 or so are never worth more than they are before the draft.
Maybe Jankowski is one of the exceptions, but I am still waiting to be sold on it.

I foresee this turning out well. This is about to turn into the 2nd Kenta->Niewendyk->Iginla chain. We just have to let Jankowski go for a 2nd...

McKenzie, Haynes and Millions seem to break a lot of our most-desired news morsels.
Of course there's always Sureloss.

When it breaks, they'll all have it within minutes of each other, and there will be a new thread on here when something happens.

Will there? Or will it be buried in this one, possibly with a title change?

I think Jankowski would have been just fine in the AHL this season. Developmentally he is much further along than Klimchuk. It is easy to forget that the NCAA is a men's league and a good one and Jankowski was a point per game player there in a defensive system. Personally I put him ahead of all other Flames forward prospects. But it is clear others don't see him as a strong two-way center that could easily line up on the 2nd/3rd line in a year or two. If it weren't for Stajan's contract, I'd have him on the 4th line next season.
