the replay showed very clearly what happened... Ortio got his glove on it and slowed it down. With no chance to get his stick on it, but with it moving nice and slowly, he purposely used his foot to put it in. Is that a kick? His skate blade came off the ice a bit, which is usually the deciding factor.
That should not have counted

Flames this season are Jekyll and Hyde. I get it's a youbg team but do they need to alternate between "McDavid" and "SCF"?
I hope Kris Russell is good to go. We lose him, season's over.

I wrote that before seeing the overhead view. If you don't look at the overhead goal there's no kick at all. That overhead view is a little more showing of a kick. Having said all that, it's not black and white either way IMO with the relaxed definition.
Definitely an argument for lack of consistency in application though
