Definitely missed Hrudey last night, not that Craig Simpson was bad.
Not a fan of Mike Johnson at all though. Doesn't seem to know what the Flames have been doing and refuses to give the Flames credit for anything. It's always bad goaltending, bad defense, taking the flames lightly, blah blah blah...
Oh, and good on Craig for giving recognition to Bollig for 'doing the little things right'. Stajan said the same thing while awarding Bollig the fireman hat last night.

Thought I was the only one that heard this. I used to like Johnson, but now he drives me crazy. He really seems to not like the Flames at all. Just comment on the damn game and leave bias out of it.
Hrudey is awesome. Simpson was OK...not great. So much more fun watching a game with Ball and Hrudey calling it.

These guys are one of the best, if not THE best, pairing in Canada right now. I thoroughly enjoy Ball's pbp and quick wit, which usually results in Kelly laughing.

My 2 cents. Hrudey is very knowledgeable, but not a great communicator. He struggles to get his point across sometimes. Still miles ahead of Simmer. I enjoyed Simpson last night. He's got more polish and just as much knowledge.

^ i would guess that might have something to do with hrudey being more of an in period guy until this season.
in his currentl.y role you likely need to be quick and think on your feet compared to an in period guy who gets to watch the video two or three times and gather his thoughts for a couple of minutes before getting on air

For sure. Simpson has been in the booth for years now. He's certainly got experience on his side.

Hrudey is great. Ball is great. Don't you take them away from us, Rogers.

Coming into this season I really didn't like Kelly Hrudey... I've done a complete 180. Starting to wonder why I didn't like the guy in the first place.

Hrudey is very much like listening to a buddy talk about the game. Very personable. Simpson is almost professor like in his delivery. Engaging and knowledgeable, but maybe a little dry.

Liked Simpson last night way more than I thought I would. Probably because Hughson wasnt there.

Simpson last night was a heck of a lot better than when Gary Galley has filled in for Hrudey...

Hrudey is great all around. But I think he is at his best as an analyst.
His on the air insight is the best on the panel. As good as Friedman's off ice insight.

I definitely notice when Hrudey and Ball aren't calling the game. It's never an upgrade.
Best since Ed Whalen for TV. Still miss Peter Maher.

I thought Simpson did fine last night. I actually like Hrudey, Simpson, and Johnson so it's win/win whenever any of them are doing Flames games. I've really become a fan of Rick Ball calling the games. Best PBP the Flames have had since Whalen in his prime.

Yeah I don't get the Johnson grief....I've heard him give props to the Flames plenty of times. I like him.

I'd take Johnson over Hrudey all day, every day. Hrudey struggles to get out what he's trying to say. He uses "right here" and "right there" way too often and a lot of times Ball will say something and all Hrudey will contribute is "yup"
Don't get me wrong, I think he's great as an out of game analyst and I love him for being in tune with the Flames, but a color guy needs to be quick and smooth with his words.
But hey, that's just me

This season has been a treat from start to finish in so many ways.
I love Ball and Hrudey huge upgrades over Kerr and Simmer.
I also like Hextall as an intermission host she is good at her job.
I might be in the minority but I moss Maclean and Kyperos during intermissions. I know they are on the odd game but when SN only had regional rights they were on more often. John Shannon is always doing Flames games and he is not terrible but not great either.

Yeah, Simpson gets a lot of flack for nothing. He is a hell of an analyst, and has exceptional knowledge from playing and coaching.
Plus he was beating advanced stats down like a rented mule last night, and that's good too.
