This is what I'm talking about. Of these 2 screenshots, which one is from NHL14 and which one is from NHL04 updated by a fan?

It's the same issue as discussed regarding the arena. They go the extra mile with a few things, but then cut corners with many other aspects.
Giordano, the captain of an NHL team last season, had a generic face in NHL14 yet again. It's a fair criticism just as it is to be disappointed that they're redesigning each arena, yet somehow have decade old banners? Its lazy.
Apparently between NHL13 and NHL14, EA Sports only added 17 new unique faces to players in the game, and only 13 NHL players.

Some guys don't even have pictures in their player profiles.

Hopefully they didn't do King Henrik's face. I can't afford to be so distracted in-game.

I must be the only one who doesn't care if the players faces actually look like them.
If they have a profile card when I manage the rosters I'm happy. I am thinking back at how often I see players faces in game and I can't really picture it much. However I really only play online and to me gameplay is the most important thing not Banners, Colors or Arenas.

I actually just found it now from a project to rebuild NHL04 for 2014.
Some other examples:

I was surprised Mony had his correct face, I think maybe 3/4 Flames had the correct face.

You'd be surprised by the modding community for the PC versions of the NHL series.
They revamped the entire game with high res arena's/uniforms/faces/goalie mask & pads.
Its a shame they can't keep doing it.

They seem to get the high, young draft picks. I think because most are already fans of the game and EA usually brings them in to try it early and what not

Surprisngly, Baertschi has a unique face as well, and it's been in the game for a while.
Broken nose and all.

The only Flames players that had their real faces last year were Monahan, Baertschi, Hudler and Cammalleri.

They just copy/pasted Crosby's face onto his character.
Seriously, with his helmet on he looks just like Sid.

Here's a bit about the "updated AI". Pretty sure they talk about improved AI every year and nothing actually changes, so I'll believe it when I see it.

I still don't think any of these feature videos or postings give any valuable depth of insight into the gameplay improvements. I want to see concrete examples.
I swear they use the same set of words in a different order on the back of the box each year: "Skill, physics, AI, stick, presentation, authentic, vision, puck, collision".

They've been talking about multiple player collisions for at least 3 years now.
Have yet to see one.

I think they work on a feature development cycle that lasts several years. When they say "now you can deke fully with the right analog stick", I wish they'd phrase it "now you can deke *even better* with the right analog stick". The way they advertise some of the features it makes them sound like they've never had them before (custom celebrations for example), when in actuality they've been there in a crappier manner.

I remember they were talking about player collisions. But I think at the time they were talking about you skating up the ice and running into another player and you'll both get held up a bit... it was the first time every player was live, not just the puck carrier. More collisions away from the puck. So multiple collisions in a game, everyone was live.
There was never really "multiple player" collisions.

This game like all the others will be unplayable as long as EA denies that ice tilt exists and does nothing to fix it.
They always waste their time with useless crap like authentic arenas but ignore vital things like OvP and HUT online being rigged based on the level of the player you're playing against and what the score is at a certain point in the game.
This is what it must feel like to be an Oilers fan. Frustration that the main issues are never being acknowledged let alone fixed and knowing that nothing will ever change because they are making way too much money off said inferior product.
