Not because they're dumb, but because there's speculation that the Oilers are really high on Draisaitl. I think Edmonton's pick will be the most interesting pick of the first round.
And Canuck fans are delusional.
Is that speculation based on Draisatl saying he wanted to play for the Oil? Because he might have assumed the were drafting 1st.
I'll be pumped if we get any one of Reinhart, Bennett, Draisaitl, or Dal Colle from what I've seen and read of each.
probably the smartest thing said so far...with how things looked a week ago we should be ecstatic to have a chance at any of these guys. Really don't want to see any "do not want" type comments on any of them because lets get real here...none of us really know #### about how they will turn out in the NHL

I still can't shake the feeling of the Flames winning a draft lottery when Johnny signed. Even though it took 3 years, the final result feels like a bonafide 1st overall.
This is going to be a long offseason. Too much to look forward to.
Florida - Ekblad
Buffalo - Reinhart
Edmonton - Draisaitl
Calgary - Bennett
New York - Dal Colle
Bennett dropping to 4 might be a bit of wishful thinking but I also think it's very possible. I really do not want Ritchie at 4th, and I'm not sold on Draisaitl either, which is another reason I want Edmonton to take him. Whoever we end up with will be a pretty good player though.
My mock draft:
Florida---Ehlers
Buffalo--Reinhart
Edmonton-- Draisaitl
Calgary---Ekblad
NYI----Bennett
After seeing Seth Jones fall to 4th last year, anything can happen. Could the same happen this year with Ekblad? I don't see why not, if the three teams ahead of us really love a particular forward. I just hope whoever we draft has a far superior career to whoever the Oilers pick so that we can hold that over them forever.
Aaron Ekblad - Big, talented right handed defenseman. A must have for the Flames organization. He's a very unique player with a blend of skill and size not seen in a while.
Sam Reinhart
Sam Bennett
Michael dal Colle
Nick Ritchie
Leon Draisaitl
I'd be happy with any of them. Each has their strengths and weaknesses. I would prefer the Flames went after some guys that hit from the right side of the plate. We are really thin on guys who are right handed shooters. Does anyone else get a Pavel Brendl vibe off of Draisaitl?

While I'd also love one of the Sam's to fall, Dal Colle looks like a really nice 'worst case scenario' for me. Great skater, natural goal scorer and a dynamite shot.
Draisaitl busting is becoming an annoying CP meme. If he sucked so bad i dont think we would be hearing names like Thornton, Kopitar, Jagr and Getzlaf when scouts come up with names to compare him to.

After watching YouTube videos of both Draisaitl and Dal Colle, I prefer Draisaitl. Draisaitl can create more offense on his own than Dal Colle. Don't get me wrong Dal Colle is a great player but I feel that Leon creates more offence than MDC. I think going with the Center is the way to go also.

I have Reinhart alone as the top forward and then Bennett, Draisaitl and Dal Colle all pretty much even. Bennett plays for a far higher scoring team than either Dal Colle or Draisaitl who are both a far bigger part of their teams offence (% wise) than Bennett is with Kingston. In fact, I think Bennett might have the lowest offensive ceiling of the group.
If Draisaitl goes back to the WHL next year he is going to make a mockery of the league.
