If the water mark in the West is 96 points for a playoff birth, the Oilers can only lose 22 games out of the remaining 65 games. I thing that's a .661 winning percentage.
So for the Oilyaz, I don't think that moral victories or good efforts in losses mean anything anymore. Last year they finished with a pro-rated 76 points which is pro rated 38 wins.
In order to reach their last years pro-rate they would need 34 wins in their last 65 games which is a more realistic .523 win percentage which could be very tough for that team.
Their prorate right now is 48 points.
Right now its unlikely that they're going to improve on a pretty pathetic team last year.
As much as the Oiler fans are blaming Hall for a suicide pass in that play. The massive bailout instead of taking the hit to maybe make a play is a real indicator of mindset.

Pass was fine - Yakupov had time and space - but loss the puck in his feet and then decided to bail.
All on Yak.

Not sure how anyone could blame Hall on that. That was exactly the pass to make.

Haha I was going to post about that. It might just be worse than the Monahan-Kerr one.

It's not from last year. It's the Oilers version of Kerr's about Monahan.

My favourite part of it is at the end, under his name they have his "credentials" for a being an Oilers expert, and one of them is "Present at Wayne Gretzky trade press conference".
WTF?

I suppose that they could be trying to say that he's been covering the team for 25+ years and thus should know something about the team?

Yeah, I think they're trying to imply that, but that's what's weird about the way it's worded. It doesn't say he covered the press conference, just that he was present at it. He might have been the guy who handed Wayne the Kleenex.
The way it's worded is the way someone would put something on their resume trying to make something mundane seem important. It's like if you worked at the concessions at the Saddledome during high school/university and you said that you held various positions within the Flames organization for five years.

Craig Custance @CraigCustance 2m Igor Larionov says he's got a trip planned to Edmonton to discuss how Nail Yakupov is being used. Pretty unhappy.
For those who don't know... Igor Larionov is Yakupov's agent

What does Larionov know about winning in comparison to Lowe or MacTavish? He has far fewer cups than they do, so his opinion won't mean a lot to them.

I don't even blame Yakupov at this stage...The Oilers are run terribly. Top to bottom, that organization is a freaking mess.
A truly awful NHL owner who continues to employ the absolute worst management group in all of professional sports.
....I'm almost starting to feel bad for Oilers fans at this point

I have no sympathy for a player who does a "sword holstering" celebration and taunts the crowd on his 2nd goal of the season 19 games in... And his team lost! Hahaha!

It's pretty funny that when Yakupov had the big celebration last year CP was calling him a goof and predicted he'd be out of the league in a few years.
Oilers fans came in and played the "you're just jealous" card. It must kill them that every single negative thing Flames fans have said about their team, has turned out to be true.
And every single negative prediction Flames fans have had about the Oilers, have turned out to be right.
How incredibly humbling.

When they scratch Yak, who plays in his position? Not that it matters too much, but I am wondering that now.
