I like the guy as much as anyone else, but the ideas of what loyalty and altruism actually mean seem to be absolutely confused on this site....

An NHL team pays they're top players well, any team, any player, if they earn it. Of course his loyalty was swayed somewhat by the $$$, but if he was miserable there and didn't want to stay in Calgary, any other team would have paid him the same money or more. So, what's the problem with the money?

Yup. Our drafting has been horrendous, our development has been horrendous. It would have been awesome to give him the Yzerman or Sakic treatment.

Why? The return for a rental player isn't going to be enough to turn this team into a contender. a late first rounder, a mid prospect and a decent roster player is likely the return.
If I'm Feaster I trade from organizational strengths
LW - too many of them. trade any two not named Curtis
Kipper - his time is up and a lot of PO teams would want him.
JBow's stock is very high right now,if someone wants him bad enough he could bring in more than Iggy because he's not a rental. Sarich,Babs,Smith and Butler for picks.

Sakic also played with one of the top 3 goalies of all time, a couple Hall of Fame defenders, Forsberg and a young Tangs and Hejduk, among the other really good players.
Also, this isn't a knock on Iggy, but Sakic >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Iggy any day of the week, even in Iggy's prime.
Just saying. Not really a comparable contrast.

Draft Pick

Mark Spector Sports @SportsnetSpec
Source confirming that #CalgaryFlames are asking for TWO prospects and a draft pick for Jarome Iginla. No question, Iggy being shopped.
Not sure if posted yet.

nothing is wrong with money.
however the all the hand holding and kumbaya'ing missed that point. This is Iggy's job. A job that has made him probably a 100 million dollars.
Do not mistake "loyalty" for employment...Guy is from Edmonton, so Calgary is the perfect fit for him to be close to family, but not too close.

I would love to see Martinez in a return for Iginla. Very under rated in my opinion. Maybe Toffoli/Martinez/2nd? I would probably do it.

Wonder if anybody is complaining that there are 4 separate threads on the Blues game?

Didn't see the whole interview post game, but if what I saw was his denial, it was pretty loose and non committal. All I heard was that he didn't "say" anything about a list, and that they'd gone this far not talking about it and didn't want to start now.
