There's no chance that Feaster needs ownership consent to trade a guy like Scott Hanna...

The problem with the franchise is the overall direction. And I really doubt Feaster is in charge of that. I mean, do you really think Edwards and King have told Feaster that he can conduct a rebuild if he thinks it's necessary, and trade Iginla as part of the rebuild?

This is a quote from Elliot Feedman on the rebuild situation:
"Calgary Flames GM Jay Feaster is keeping mum on potential moves by his club, but did acknowledge it is an “organizational decision” not to tear down the current roster and rebuild."

When was this quote from Feaster and when was it reported by Elliot?

According to Friedman, he spoke to Feaster on Saturday:
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/opin...act-perry.html
Quote:
5. Calgary: Jay Feaster will not discuss individuals. I asked him Saturday if negotiations have even begun with Jarome Iginla (they haven't). He said, "I'm not going to talk about Jarome specifically. Every time his name comes up publicly, there's an outcry." Even topics like extending Jay Bouwmeester (can do it in July) or Joey MacDonald, he's keeping it quiet.
6. What Feaster did say is this: it is "an organizational decision" that they are not going to tear down and rebuild. They're just not going to do it, no matter how much we all think they should. But, he added, "We do recognize we have certain contractual issues we have to deal with." He also indicated that any moves they make will try to address their smallish stature at centre, a problem that extends to some of their prospects, too.
7. The one thing everyone should remember about Iginla is that he is tight with owner Murray Edwards. There may not be any talks yet, but if he wants to stay -- and they want him to stay -- it will get worked out. Could he get traded, then come back in the summer?

This doesn't mean that hes not willing to to trade out major pieces just that hes not going scotched earth rebuild. Even if they are still hell bent on keeping Iggy and/or Kipper they could still move Jbo, Cammy, Tangauy, etc. So I'm not to worried by this comment.

You are correct, but then i doubt they trade any of them at the deadline. Sounds more like they want a re-tool, which to me would be player for player trades. Going to be hard to do that at the deadline, when teams want to add to the roster not subtract. If that's the route they are taking it's more in line of "shuffling the deck chairs" once again.

So Barkov then? Possible trade of Bart for a bigger prospect even? Backlund looks great at 205 now. I agree we could use some more size with LA, ANA, and PHX in our division next year. Actually with Gaudreau playing near Boston maybe they will try to do a prospect swap for someone bigger who knows.

Technically they didn't trade their 1st and 3rd this year, technically he's right?
Intentions be damned, right?

Iginla may be in tight with Edwards and that is totally cool. If he stays that is fine. But if Iginla and Edwards care they should consider doing what is best for the Franchise. And many many people think that would involve trading him. And the number of people that believe this to be the case is growing faster with each loss.

Rebuild, tear down etc are all just phrases that have little meaning, everyones definition is different. It does not mean change is not just around the corner.
If Feaster and Co. are so dumb that they truly do not think any changes other than "contractual" are need, then we are all going to suffer awhile longer. However I am optomistic that the management has too have seen the light and changes are the only option. It may not be a "rebuild" but they will call it some fancy phrase of their own, perhaps "improvments thru change" or some other BS.

How can this team not be huge time sellers at the deadline? They are at the very bottom of the standings. Sheesh.
