Shouldn't the poll be
Do you like the offer sheet given to O'Reilly?
I still think the Avs match though.

I am almost sure they will match. The Av's were asking for better compensation than that and they think highly enough of him that they are not going to let him go to a division rival with no guaranteed return. How many 1st rnd picks become impact players? Too risky, they will match and try and patch it up with him.

You're absolutely right. I should have worded it differently.

Good point, but even he couldn't save us. We're losing with or without him

If the Flames pick any higher than 12th I think it is a great move, O`Reilly is worth more than a 13th and 73rd overall pick. If they pick between 12th and 8th it is probably a wait and see move, if the Flames are top five in this draft it is an absolute disaster.

There's no way Colorado wants to pay this kid 6.5M next year. And if they match, you cna bet he would make them pay every penny of it.
But if he comes ot Calgary, you have to think he'd be grateful to the organization for getting him out of Colorado, and back onto the ice. So much so, that he may very well re-sign with them for a more appropriate number, likely around the 5M range.
Great move by the Flames.

I'm glad the owners apparently have really fat wallets but this deal makes the Flames look even more stupid.
An awesome draft year and we cough up what could be a chance at a really good player? Or two? Two what support that aging core that's still there!!
Crazy ridiculous money for a guy who is dubbed a very good second line center?
For two years? What's the point here??
It's the managements unwillingness to listen to 95% of the hockey world that's really annoying me with this team.
At what point do you admit that 5% is sheer stubbornness and stop the bleeding?
Losing touch with reality and I'm losing touch as a Flames fan.

I say the Avs let him walk, I think the Avs organization is pretty fed up with him.

I am torn. Not sure if want. I think I would keep the picks. Although, I think we are pretty much guaranteed a top ten pick, if it is top 5 I will be quite sad

Love the move by Feaster. Team had a desperate need and he addressed it. ROR is a more proven NHL commodity than who would have been picked 5th-10th. Worst case you still ship the vets at the deadline andrebuild with a much better #1C.
With the timing, I doubt the Avs match

Blah it won't be even close to the top 5. We are playing 500 hockey even with our assorted backup goalies.

Doubtful. Seeing as he's not a 28 fully formed NHL player. He's 22. At the moment, he's most often been compared to Bergeron.

Flames should tank their game tonight, make Colorado feel like they are in a good spot, moving up the standings, Calgary freefalling, will lead to a good draft pick.... Flames gonna lose tonight.

The McGratton diversion wasn't going as planned so Feaster did this today. Another great diversion tactic Jay!

Why are people posting so sure the avs will match?
IF they match (my understanding from reading bob mackenzies twitter is that) they have to sign Landeskog and Duchene while still paying 6.5 for O Reilly.
Feaster really made this a lot harder than people would initially think for the Avs to match.

really don't see how they don't match unless they think Calgary is going to finish bottom 5, which I don't think they will and I don't think the Avs will think that
if they don't match
great move for the Flames in terms of value given up, the cap hit is insane

Considering our main problem is failing to get the puck out of our zone due to lack of ANY SKILL AT ALL in the faceoff dot, this could turn us around. A lot.
