S Louis Delmas, CB Nnamdi Asomugha and LB Dan Skuta all visiting the 49ers today.
Delmas is a young Safety so he has that to his advantage over Woodson and Reed, hes a great player just has some injury concerns. But the Niners have to replace Goldson with somebody.
Asomugha will be a good addtion to their secondary that got exposed a bit last year.
And Skuta will be a great depth/ST player.
Im hoping the Niners first option is Reed, then Delmas, then Woodson at Safety in that order.
But I hope they sign the two others, after that I think theyre done in free agency and can just look towards the draft.
In another sign that the days of punishing, physical running backs like Jim Brown and John Riggins are coming to an end, the NFL is considering a rules change that would penalize runners for lowering their heads and initiating contact with tacklers.
Members of the NFL’s Competition Committee revealed today that they want to see a new rule that would make it a personal foul for either a runner or a tackler to engage in head-first contact with the crown of the helmet when running into each other outside the tackle box.
“This is a pure and simple player safety rule,” NFL Competition Committee Chair Rich McKay said. “We really think the time has come where we need to address the situation in space where a runner or a tackler has a choice of how to approach his opponent.”
This is fair since they insist on punishing the defense for headshots. I think this would also spell the end of most running plays
Edit: reread it and it says only for contact made with the crown of the helmet. If the New England RB had kept his head up he wouldn't have been knocked out by Pollard in their playoff game
Derrick Mason who is really good friends with Ed Reed tweeted that he had signed with Houston. Then quickly backtracked by saying he was only joking. Hmm...
Not sure I'd understand Ed Reed to the Texans. He's probably have as good a chance winning a ring staying with the Ravens (and yes, that's a slight against Houston)

Houston is closer to his home in NO. Plus they seem willing to overpay for him.
Okay, well I'm happy. Steven Jackson's reaching 30 years old, but he's still a hell of a back who can actually catch the ball from time to time. Love this signing. He can't do any worse than Turner did this season.
I'm looking forward to seeing a Jackson/Rodgers one-two punch.
Seahawks sign Michael Bennett, one year $5 million. Weak market for pash rushers continues, Seahawks keep adding people somehow. Pete Carroll is trying to rebuild USC up there it seems.

Not sure who this guy is but he says Kevin Kolb will be released by the Cardinals and he'll sign on with the Jets. Is Kolb that much of an improvement on Sanchez? Not much. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-sh...5137--nfl.html

Helps when you're paying your starting QB $700k and can get guys like Browner and other 307th round picks coming through in the clutch, and playing for cheap (for now). Still have cap space, as they had $18m going into this (and have spent about $13m 2013 cap hit in the 3 guys signed, and lost Jason Jones and Leon Washington which was about $3m in cap gained), plus anything they carried over I think.
Though changed my tune on Flynn...with guys like Fitzpatrick and Cassel available, if Seattle can trade Flynn (Jets, looking at you), then they do it, and pick up a decent QB as backup...Flynn is a solid insurance policy, but I think similar insurance can be had for cheaper.
Clemons (assuming his brutal Fed Ex Field knee injury is healed), Avril, Bennett (he was a Seahawk until Mora cut him 4 years ago), and Irvin on the D-line, addressing the biggest need of the team last year; not getting to the QB, as good as the rest of the defence was the last couple of years. Get a LB to replace the aging (but more importantly, trouble with the law yet again) Leroy Hill at LB, and expectations are high in the press, almost too high for my liking for the team...
Back to Leon Washington cut, so I assume Harvin takes over the PR and KR. Leon landed today in NE. Solid player, solid guy, solid teammate. Limited role, but he won a couple games straight out in his time with SEA with KR or PR for TD (tied for the league record) as what ended up being the deciding margin (he got 2 in one game once as well). NE will give a good player.
