Looks like Thames got sent down to Las Vegas, and McCoy has been recalled.

Interesting to see once these IF injuries play themselves out, if they recall Snider and leave Thames to play in Vegas.

I'm not wondering if possibly Gose might get the call.

Since Snider is on the DL, I am guessing he won't be an option for quite some time.

The option I would bet is Vlad. He will be the DH / part time Left Fielder with Davies.

I would think Vlad is about 2 weeks away.

Got to be honest Caged, I don't see them rushing Gose right now as he's still got a lot of work to do. Right now, not even playing CF he would be simply another Rajai Davis. Wouldn't be surprised if Gose gets a call in September however. So tough to get an actual read on the numbers in Vegas, some of them are so inflated .

Really excited to see Vladdy, for nothing more then saying I got to watch a HOF'er and my favorite player of all time, before he retires.

Laffey sent down last night and the Jays will announce tomorrow who has been called up. Lot of speculation, I have no idea to be honest.

And Snider is set to take some swings tomorrow and appears to be pain free.

How out of shape was Vlad the Impaler if they started him in A Ball? Anyway, moving up to AAA for tomorrow's game though after destroying those poor kids in single A. 4 homers in 20 AB's.

Nothing to do with being "out of shape". Its normal practise to start a player a A level. Especially a player who has missed spring training and the first 2 months of the season

For example Snider, more in liking will see some games at A level after comes off the DL. I believe he is at Florida.

"Extended Spring Training" is the title of Dunedin I believe. It's common practice, has nothing to do with his health and shape. If he's not called up for the White Sox next week, look for Vladdy to make his first appearance at home when the Nationals are in town. That would make for quite the turnout that weekend

Wonder how his fielding is going? Has he ever played LF, can Bautista play left? Or will the plan be just to put EE at first and have Vlad DH most of the time. Or will Vlad simply be a pinch hitter most nights

EE will play 1st most of the time with Vladdy as DH. Vladdy has also expressed his desire to play in the outfield. If he does, it will be LF.

Stats show he was the DH for 3 games & Left Field for 1 game with Dunedin.

EE has only played a few games at 1st, David Cooper has been at 1st last 4 or 5 games. I believe EE has a back issue or something like that.

I would guess Vlad will need to DH 90% of the time when he is in the line up and he will play LF on a really limited basis.

Shi Davidi ‏@ShiDavidi Jays will watch Guerrero in LF closely in Vegas to assess whether he'll be able to reasonably do it if he gets called up says Farrell

MLB Draft is tonight. Interesting to hear AA and the Jays organization talk about the risks they have to take in drafting young talent, while playing in the AL East. Have to take a lot more chances on guys turning into All Stars, and average pitching/prospects probably won't be enough to be successful in the AL East

...the Blue Jays first pick at number seventeen. The Blue Jays will also have the 22nd pick as compensation for not coming to terms with last year's first round pick Tyler Beede. The Jays have also been awarded compensation for losing Jose Molina, Frank Francisco and Jon Rauch, in the form of the 50th, 58th and 60th picks. That 60th pick will be the last pick made on day one of the draft, and the Jays will have made the most selections, tied with St.Louis, with five first-rounders.

While the amount of money a team can spend on the draft is now limited, the amount allocated to clubs' bonus pools is not that far off what they spent last year. The Jays can still spend an amount near what they spent last year without getting hit by a penalty, like the loss of future first-round picks. One problem is that picks beyond the third round that fail to sign will be lost completely, and the bonus pool will shrink accordingly. So a team can not use the money they save by failing to sign a draft pick on other draft picks, making it more risky to pick players with high bonus demands.

There is a fair bit that is new this year, due to the new CBA, so I'll outline a few of the key points and differences from the past. Most critically, in the past each pick had a recommended slot for the singing bonus, but they were non-binding and teams often went way over, particularly with high schoolers who fell due to their bonus demands (for example, Dan Norris, who the Jays drafted in the 2nd round. He was first round talent, but had suggested he want $3.9 million to sign so he fell. He ended up settling for $2M). This year, each pick in the first 10 rounds has a value assigned to it (from $7.2M for the first overall, down to $125K for the bottom of the 10th round), and then the value for all the picks a team has is totalled to give one pooled number. The team does not have to stick to the values assigned for each individual pick, but must stay within their total overall allocation. If a team goes over, there are penalties: for 0-5% over, it's a 75% tax, with penalties escalating every 5% threshold until you get 5% over, when you pay a 100% tax on overage and lose 2 first rounders in subsequent drafts.

The draft rules are not even border line ######ed, it's full on 100% maximum potential ######.

It's so harsh, that you are likely going to see more potential players decide to play other sports instead because the amount that they'd sign for is nothing and the duration of control is ridiculous. Look at Lawrie who is pretty good. He's not going to make 5 mil a season probably for another 5-6 years.
