being an anti-Roddick fan, I probably don't have much credible say on the matter, but I'll have to disagree with you on this one. the replay of that serve was inconclusive, he might have had an inch of his toe on the line for a fraction of a second...foot faults are so infrequently called that it probably should have been let go, I'll give him that much.
but why would you even bother asking which foot was over the line? obviously if you're a right handed server it's going to be your left, so it was just Roddick being his usual sarcastic crybaby self. the woman said right foot, but maybe she meant the foot on the right from her perspective? either way she was visibly rattled by Roddick's jerkishness so that's probably why she didn't answer clearly.
that's not to say the other stars don't get upset...someone like Rafa has no problem arguing with officials and accusing them of not caring. but that's different from acting like a jerk off and mocking the ump/linesperson. have to say it gives me great pleasure watching him not win a match since early spring.

oh and about Nalbandian's default...that's what you call bringing stupid back. accidental or not, something that causes harm to an official is a black and white decision, like shooting the puck over the glass. feel bad for the people who paid money to see that garbage, they deserved at least a replay or a better explanation of the rule being enforced.

Men's 2nd round qualifying. Polansky is out, Chvojka has advanced to the 3rd round. He plays a very beatable Spaniard (31st seed in qualifying) for a place in the main draw. That battle will go on Thursday and it'll be 5 sets!
Women's 1st Round qualifying. Fichman is out, El Tabakh won and moves onto the Round 2.

It's actually today!
Chvojka vs. Cervantes (ESP) has just started. Best of 5 sets!

If you're in the London area I heard there's a sizeable Canadian contigent on Court 10. You should check it out. It's FREE admission!

El Tabakh lost today, so she's out.

Draw is out. Very good chance we see Milos play pospisil in the second round
Vasek Pospisil CAN
Sam Querrey USA
Santiago Giraldo COL
Milos Raonic CAN (21)
Milos probably play Marin Cilic CRO (16) before meeting Murray in quaters if they all advance as they should. A nice change from having to play Fed. Lets hope Milos brings his A game!

It's pretty funny that it's the same on the women's side too.
If Wozniak and Dubois win their 1st round matches, they will play each other

no Isner, no Berdych...the Fed/Nole half could not possibly be easier now. maybe this is the All England Club's special gift to them after watching them struggle and sputter their way to the semis at the FO.
oh well...maybe a bit of drama to be had in the Rafa half?

I am not the biggest tennis fan but went to Wimbledon today to see it for myself. The day started off at 5:45 am leaving the flat and making my way to the queue by 6:15. I got a queue card issued to me (#1984) and a booklet explaining the queue etiquette. Some of the people had been there camping out since saturday and only about 500 people from the queue made it into each of the show courts (Centre, Court 1, and Court 2). By 10:00 am one of the stewards told us there was over 7,000 people in the queue to get in and way more people showed as the day went on.
Here are some of my pictures from the day:

This is Court 18 in a break in the match between Mikhail Youzhny and Donald Young. You can see Centre Court in the background.

This is Court 12 and a serve from Benjamin Becker

This is James Blake against Becker on Court 12. Blake sucked today. Notice the ridicules Asian spectators. It was really hot today and the one lady looks like she has a sleeping bag over her head, one has a fur lined jacket on, and yet another has a hat with a cover, a jacket over top and gloves on.

This is Court 18 again watching Angelique Kerber and Lucie Hradecká. This was an entertaining game, and even though she lost, Hradecká consistently had a harder serve than Blake.
I also watched a bit of the Men's Doubles match between Ball/Bellucci and Bracciali/Knowle. Doubles was very entertaining and I would recommend watching a Pro doubles match if you get a chance.
Overall I really enjoyed the day. The grounds were very impressive and for a whole day of tennis for £20 it is more than worth it. I am very interested in going again (didn't do Pimm's or strawberries and cream this time), maybe a show court if I can get tickets. One of the better sporting events I have been too and possibly the best value.

I'll pretend not to be too jealous I'm glad you're enjoying yourself.
And Blake...yeah he's pretty washed up now. He did have some great moments in his career though.

I haven't read through the whole thread but this might be the funniest comment in it.

Great pictures!!
I heard Strawberries and Cream was some outrageous price of 2.50 pounds for a small bowl of like 8. You'll have to research that for us
--------
YOU SHOULD GO TOMORROW!!!!!
MILOS!!!!! will be on Court 18! Dubois on Court 19. Pospisil on 17 and Wozniak on Court 5.
You could bring a BIG Canadian flag and wonder around!

Yeah I really wanted to see the Canadians. The guy I went with is also Canadian and yesterday was the only day he could come up to London to go. We were pretty choked when the draw came out. We went to the practice courts to look for Milos and possibly an autograph but to no avail.
I avoided my job hunt yesterday to go and I don't think it is a good idea for me to go again today. Not to mention that it's already 9:30 here and I might not even get in at this point.
I don't know about the strawberries, but a glass of Pimm's was £7.20. Most food and drink was pretty reasonable, the beer was still cheaper than the Saddledome. The Pimm's and Polo Wimbledon gear was pretty crazy priced. You could buy all the parts of a line judge uniform and it would add up to £1,500.

Girly the first time I went to Wimbledon - in 1995 - Strawberries and Cream cost £3 and I think you got 6, though they were sizable.
The price fluctuates depending on the annual strawberry harvest - and this year it is going to be late and poor. 2011 was a fantastic year for them.

Wozniak won easily
Dubois lost a tough 3 setter
Pospisil is on court now.
Raonic is still 2 matches away... that Court 18 is taking forever!
