+1 I'm not into that type of dance and everything but I thought it was a very good show.

Went down with a couple buddies for Super Bowl weekend. Was a great trip - Vegas never disappoints.
Went to check out the Absinthe show as many here seemed to enjoy it. It was awesome. Highly recomend it, even if its a boys trip. Dont sit in the front row though unless you like to get agressivly picked on in a "very adult show" kind of way. We were in the 2nd row which was perfect!

Yah we did Absynthe last time to, not really my wife's thing but I laughed my can off. I also plan on checking out Dice but will likely be going solo to that. I just want to check out his show.

Going in July for UFC 162, has anyone booked rooms through smartervegas.com, some good deals on there? Also looking at staying at either Flamingo or Luxor, thoughst on those places? (Aria, Encore etc are a bit out of the price range) Also, if your staying somewhere else can you go to any pool you want, i assume you just have to pay? Thanks guys!

I have never booked through smatervegas.com, but I usually find that out of Canada that flight/hotel packages get me the best deals.
The major difference between the Flamingo and Luxor are their locations. The Flamingo is centre strip, near more casinos while the luxor is much farther south. They both now charge resort fees, so that is no longer a major difference. I believe the flamingo has also upgraded their rooms more recently. A couple of other hotels to check out in that price range would be the Monte Carlo, NYNY, Bally's.
The pool policy varies from hotel to hotel. Most only let people who are staying their use it. Some allow outside entry for a fee. Check with each hotel.

If you are going for UFC, might I suggest staying at NYNY? It is right across the street from MGM. About the same price range as Luxor too. MGM Grand would be ideal, it is a step up in price from NYNY and Luxor, but since the UFC is at MGM Grand the prices will probably go up for the event. If you can afford it, stay at MGM Grand. They also have some nice pools at MGM.

Never booked through them but I've used their codes quite often.
You could also check The Signature towers. http://www.signaturemgmgrand.com/
Towers right behind MGM. (Still part of the MGM property) A friend of mine just stayed there and got a smoking deal on it. He said it was really nice.

Check out the Tropicana, it has been renovated big time and has an awesome pool. I think thier prices are still pretty decent, and its right across the street

I went to a concert there last year. Standing room tickets are all on the floor in front of the stage. Not my box of frogs but I'm sure they're fine if you're into that sort of thing. Sight lines from the floor looked okay.
We got tickets in the first few rows of the balcony. I'd get tickets there again any time.
As far as capacity goes, not sure. A few thousand at the most. Most of which was on the floor.

Where to stay: Looking at Craigslist for spots is an option. Quad is a cheap hotel located directly in the middle of the strip. Hostels are cheap but a bit of a walk from Aria/Venetian/Bellagio where we will be mostly playing poker. Rent is really cheap during the summer (cheap year round really) but I am sketched out by CL and would keep valuables in a safe at a hotel (passport, cash, etc.)
Another thing is comps. Usually get anywhere from $1-$3/hour when you play poker. My buddy and I will just hoard up for free buffets. Food is cheap anyways.
We are both playing 2/5-5/10 NL and also love to bet baseball. I've heard the Venetian is soft for 5/10 especially during the WSOP. We will be playing 10+ hours a day but also once in awhile I'd like to take a break and do some fun stuff. Clubs, bars, some shows. I've heard while playing poker here in Vancouver that the Beatles show at the Mirage is the best show on the strip.
I've been to Vegas 4 times with family but never gambled because I wasn't 21. I turn 21 in a few months so should be interesting.

Well he's banned so I won't get an answer, but I'm curious as to whether or not this is a well thought out plan. Maybe he's got money to burn, but living in Vegas and betting on baseball and playing poker just strikes me as a quick way to go broke.

I know a guy who after racking up 200k in profits playing poker here and online over a few years lost it all in Vegas in a few weeeks. There are many people in Vegas who make their living preying on "professional gamblers" trying to make it big in Vegas. The city is crawling with hustlers of all walks of life.
Even if you are good enough at poker to make money, the clubs will suck a 21 year old dry. Vegas outside of the strip can also be an extremely boring town. It's a sprawling, and in places deserted, suburb that is painfully hot at times.
If your plan is to play reasonable poker and live modestly on your winnings...well good luck with that. Even then, there are less inhospitable places to do that, so I'm not sure why you'd want to do that in the first place.

Yah I got upper balcony, We've outgrown being on the floor, even if it is country. Apparently Kenny Chesney is popular and tickets sell fast.
