Every list that's been put out for u21s ranking has varied a little bit but in general the top 5 has been mbappe, alli, Dembele, donnarumma, Ascensio
Pulisic isn't near that, but he gets hyped as such, and it sets unreal expectations

I named one Brazil player lol, Jesus is very much on that list.

I wanted Pulusic on Croatia for selfish reasons obviously, but I definitely respect his decision. He is American.
Playing for a European side gets you more exposure and could potentially lead to more money with a big club. I feel like most of today's Croatia players got their big club transfers/money after solid performances with the national side.
He's with Dortmund now, but there are wealthier and even more corrupt owners in Europe who want to throw their money away after being dazzled at a Euro or WC. Always chasing the next shiny new toy.

My guess is he ends up at Liverpool
American owners, high profile club
Maybe arsenal? Depending on their next manager
Either way for his sake I hope he waits a few years and maybe missing WC makes that easier. He needs playing time and while he hasn't started every game for Dortmund the last year he's playing a lot. If he moves to England and ends up a backup or rotation option it just stagnates his career

Denmark-Ireland and Sweden-Italy should be very tight ties. You'd expect Switzerland and Croatia to win pretty comfortably.

Why isn't the higher ranked team automatically playing the second game at home? I see the Danes open at home.

Croatia also opens at home. I agree the higher rank should start on the road, don't most managers desire that?

It seems there is a very small statistical advantage to playing second game on the road. If tied on goals after two games, the first tiebreaker is away goals. If tied on away goals, then a 30 minute OT is played. If each side were to score a goal in the OT, the away team would advance on the basis of away goals.

Exciting, if true. I think the missing piece in putting Croatia into serious contention for a trophy is a bonafide manager who is non-Croatian.

pretty harsh explanation by Southgate when asked about Smalling, basically saying he only wants centre backs who can play the ball out. And not that I disagree with that, it's just an unnecessary swipe at a player who he could probably still need in the future.
At the same time, this "we need players who can play the ball" should in theory also be the end of Joe Hart. But I'm sure he'll still be number 1 because, you know, reasons.

Look....he clearly knows where the bodies are buried and he likely has pictures.

If the City and Spurs players could replicate the form for their clubs for England, England might actually be good enough to beat Iceland.

Croatia expecting a sellout today at home. Let's hope it was actual fans who acquired tickets and not hooligans hell bent on destroying the Croatian FA.
While corruption is rampant in the FA and fans are disenfranchised, misconduct in the stands is not the way to bring about change at the top.

What the hell is going on in this game? 3-1 isnt a scoreline you'd expect with Greece and Croatia.

Greece with the important away goal. Despite being down 3-1, the return leg could be interesting if it stays this way.
