Of all the EV newcomers Rivian is my favorite. Followed closely by Lucid.
Haven't heard a bad thing about Rivian that wsnt a software update away from being fixed .

I remember that place on Bowness Road which sold Ladas for awhile. Not sure if it was Bowest Motors back then? Probably dating myself.

I haven't followed them too closely, but I am genuinely interested in this one!

I think there was one on 16th Ave and 14th Street, too.

There was a used car shack in Airdrie that sold new Ladas for awhile til that guy bolted with all the cash from the business. Buddy worked for him washing cars and lost out on a couple weeks pay.

Rivian needs to make a proper front end. That’s the stupidest looking headlight setup imaginable for that car. It’s no longer cutesy or unique; it’s a stupid looking design choice that will always look dumb.
Rest of the car is a no brainer. Rad.

I feel like upgrading the wheels on that thing would make it look even cooler. Heck, it has this kinda vibe where I feel like it could be successfully modded into a really cool off roading vehicle.

Couldn't agree more! I have a 2021 X3 M40i and absolutely love it! The ZF8 is a perfect partner for the B58. Many who feel the B58 is BMW's best engine ever (sans the S70/2 which was very low production), which says a lot. Many who also feel it is now amongst the best Six Cylinder engines ever. It is so versatile, used in many platforms. Makes great power stock, it's reliable, makes more power easily and reliably. I consistently get 31-33mpg on the highway too. It's positively telling why Toyota chose the B58 for the Supra.

Went to the auto show and sat in a Tycan and I really want it. No BMW there though, wanted to look at a few with all this BMW talk.
My wife though after looking at the smaller CUVs she really likes the Buick Envista
Which is a bit of a surprise since before she really did like the Honda HR-V. I guess I'll have to research on it to see if Buick is trash but the price is pretty competitive.

Won't impact you as a driver but we have talked/ranted about bumper mounted turn signals either here or the GMG discussion but the Envista is maybe even more annoying because they put the brake lights down low in the bumper. It is very annoying when driving behind one because the lights at eye level illuminate as marker lights and it is normal to think they would increase in intensity under braking but they don't.

The reviews of the Envista have been great, I was going to look at them but decided on a Crosstrek instead.

Wow that’s terrible. They put them low and then make them half the size too. Just an awful design choice.

Anyone used one of those sites that give you all the dealer's invoice and all that jazz?
Or is it not worth it these days, if the dealer can just easily sell the car to someone else then may there's no negotiation going on these days.

I’ve used carcostcanada a few times and it’s made the process pretty easy in the past. For me, it was nice being able to see all manufacturer rebates and offers in an easy to use format and then see how much margin there is on the various trims and then start narrowing down which vehicles on which lots I should go after. All this said, that was in the “before” days and I have no clue if it’s worth it now. Maybe still works if you’re looking at models that have some inventory?

Swoopy crossovers are not my thing, but it does look to be very reasonably priced for what you get. It only has a 3-cylinder 136 hp power engine, and there's no AWD available, but I guess that's the trade-off if you want a relatively affordable new car these days.

She really likes her Civic the only thing she says she wants is something taller to see better and up to date tech, but otherwise she has been fine with the Civic as a daily driver.
That's the real downside for me is the no AWD. If it was for me it'd probably be a deal breaker, but I think a sunroof is more important for her than AWD lol, and she really does love the look of it, it does punch above it's weight in looks. The anemic engine will only be frustrating for me when I have to drive it, she won't care at all.
There's the Volvo and Audi going a step up that I like but I don't think she wants to spend that much.
