That was. I had a few moments of absoutely feel that I was going to pull this one out.
But the power failures made recruiting really tough for a while there.

I do think it's funny a bit because early in the game I was planning to latch onto Puxlut in a similar way that Girlysports latched onto Starseed. Say she was town, go after anyone who went after her (part of the Delgar stuff) but in the end she absolutely hates me...not that I blame her.
You'll see in our mafia thread that we interpret the hammer time a bit different, wishful thinking type stuff. 9:59:59 and then hammer drops seeing those 10:00 votes we were hoping we might get a favourable ruling on the field from Mazrim
But we weren't sure how the powers worked so on that last day when Hockeyguy15 flipped I had to do and say anything (realizing there was basically no hope) that might save us in the event of someone popping up with a kill or extra vote.

Strategically and the way you presented and sold yourself was brilliant.
I really enjoyed how heated the game got for a while there.

Reading the mafia thread. Glad to know my last minute vote caused you guys some stress! :P
No word of a lie, I wasn't trying to cut it that close. I was out that evening and looked up to see it was like 9:55 and scrambled to find my phone. Hence the wrong name spelling, I've messed up your name so much, my phone autocorrects to it.

Out of question, has anyone made it through the entire mafia game without a single vote on them?
I'm still trying to figure out how I managed that one.

Oh, and I think it was Girlysports who came up with the Princess strategy. That was my favourite one so far, worked great as she went from about to get lynched when I left (really did leave that time) and when I got back I was the only vote on her.

Yeah I had lynchproof (hopefully) and Oling's only way to die was through lynching. Was better to have the vote on me and have him be the lightning rod for a potential cult kill.

I think being scum is much more time consuming/difficult than being town. You really have to watch what you say, how you say it, who you say it to. It's hard not leaving a bread crumb trail for people to follow later on in the game.
I think I was lucky that everyone assumed I was town because of the way I used my power. I actually lied about how it worked, I could rewind to the previous day if I wanted and I could also do it after a lynch but we didn't want to give the town that option.
Mazrim would people have come back to life if I went back to the previous day or did it after a lynch?

What a great game! Congrats to HG15 and Oling for a superbly played game.
Thank you faction leaders CC, CBL, BigC.
Thanks to all the players we all invested alot of time in the game and I am sure everyones employer will be happy to see a return to productivity.
Mazrim this game was unreal, you have outdone yourself. Thank you so much.
The amout of views this game generated in such a small time frame certainly must be a record at CP. I bow to you sir.
I look forward to reading all the Mafia posts and spectator posts.
Thanks again Mazrim and everyone who played and contributed.

Awesome game. Was a major head screw with so much complexity.

Disapointed to look this morning and see the darkness win.
I think all my hunches were wrong - didn't peg a single mafia player the whole game.
I played my part totally wrong though. Based on my initial PM, I did not think I was a role blocker. I thought it meant anything that targeted me would not work, but instead my actual power was that I could target someone else and block actions. Not sure how I would of played that, but I basically didn't use my power at all.
Great fun though - I can't believe how hard it was to be town and see people piling on you. You just knew the mafia was twisting it against you, but there was nothing you could do! I almost think playing mafia would be easier!

I have played all three times, twice mafia, once town.
It was harder being town I think, as you are always in the dark. Mafia in game one were unlucky in the start but also all new to the game. Not organized, not much planning.
As you will see if you read the Mafia thread, these 2 guys and girl were very organized and made constant plans. Long range thinking, staying ahead of the town very well I think. I deserve no credit, my teammates carried me.

A little bit easier to read this way:

(Note to mobile users, this contains 1000 posts).
Also pretty much everything I didn't know I was wrong about but one thing that I was right about was GP_Matt's lynchproof:
"If Members of the Guardians get a night save, I think it makes sense that Members of the Eternals get a lynch save. Would make sense given how close GP_Matt was to being lynched.
Would explain why he wasn't really concerned about being lynched but can't remember exactly why. I want to try and spin it that he's mafia and knew mafia would unvote but I think he just knew he was safe."

For me playing my first game, being mafia put me on edge right from when I got the original PM. Immediately being a team of 4 puts a team pressure on. Not sure how to post or how to respond in the early stages. I got defensive really early and it showed. Plus you townies get the night off, we have to play every single day.
It was certainly fun being the busdriver and sending out fake messages

I actually used the wrong term to describe your role when you died, and you did play it properly. It should have said simply "Untargetable" as that makes more sense than the known role "Deflector". It was one of the mistakes I made while writing stuff this game, so I apologize for that.
Hockeyguy: People would have come back to life, but died again at the end of the replayed day. That is why I was slow handing out links to the death topic, for those who were wondering.

|
The thing is, the hammer deadline couldn't drop by as long as there were two people with enough votes to be hammered, so this situation wouldn't happen. I moved the hammer deadline in the expectation it would either tie 24 hours later, or someone would be up 4-2 or 3-something depending on unvotes. I wouldn't let an unvote be the hammer.

Oh, gotcha. Good to know I didn't botch my character then - I feel like I had let the town down somehow.
All in all, great game Mazrim. I'd love to play again, but if you think you need an assistant in putting the game on, I'd be glad to help out as well. I imagine its a ton of work for one person.
