The Draft Analyst's final rankings
http://www.thedraftanalyst.com/rankings/2016-final-500/
1. Matthews
2. Laine
3. Puljujarvi
4. Chychrun
5. Tkachuk
6. Dubois
7. Nylander
8. Keller
9. Juolevi
10. McLeod
11. Sergachev
12. Kanin
13. Jost
14 Gauthier
15. Bellows
16. Brown
When asked about having Chychrun so high, "Chychrun had the best season of any draft-eligible defenseman. People never talk about his play with Sarnia because that makes it too hard to find issues. They focus on the TPG and U18." He also adds, "Chychrun was and remains an excellent prospect with legitimate franchise potential. A bad game or two doesn't change that."

I'm locked I to Nylander now. Hope that Brown is not the guy. That's about all I got now for the draft. Pretty much done all the homework I want to. Just hoping the 2nd rounds and later are the fun times and full of surprises

exactly... top 2 D are guys you develop/draft 90% of the time...
its fine if the Oilers don't think Joulevi is worth a 4, but then you trade down and have your choice of the three D at the top.
you don't pick Tkachuk when you have McDavid, Hall, Draistl, RNH, Eberle...hell, even Yak
they'll be lucky to get a #4 dman for RNH imo...which would be dumb, considering Joulevi and probably sergachev has a chance to be a #2

I have a feeling if the Blue Jackets don't have Seth Jones signed to a new contract by July 1st, the Oilers will attempt to sign him to an offer sheet.

Not exactly sure that's a good route to go for them. They will have a few young players in the same situation that will be subject to offer sheets in the coming seasons.

Could be a wild draft. After the top 3 everyone has different lists.

Looks like the Oilers may take Hart 32nd OA.
Guy Flaming @TPS_Guy
Worth noting in regard to your Rd 2 pick for EDM, Hart trains in summers with Oilers/Oil Kings goalie coach Dustin Schwartz @LarryFisher_KDC

Brilliant! Then the jackets can proactively trade him to us to save themselves from the situation. I love Chiarelli.

They were reportedly going to do it for Hamilton, so why not Jones?

I doubt there is any chance the Jackets move Jones but if the Oilers out an offer of the 4th pick and Nurse the Jackets could be tempted. That way they can draft Puljujarvi and Brown while still adding a decent young Dman. Edmonton gets their 25min right shot who is 21. Sign him to a deal similar to Hamilton.
I highly doubt the Jackets do that but I rather take a high first, and good prospect than a 1st, 2nd and 3rd

Seems futile as the Jackets gave up a lot to get him and will match. Plus the Oilers don't have enough cap space to make huger offers to RFA's if they plan on keeping their own free agents. McDavid is going to suck the salary space of two top players on his own.

Oh man, wouldn't that be hilarious.
"Young defenseman? Oilers calling? We'll take him! We're the Calgary Flames! And we'll give you our highest draft picks and a high five*!"
*no, not five high banners, Kevin.

nhl.com looks at the 10 top RWs in the draft
https://www.nhl.com/news/top-10-righ...?tid=277764372
1. Laine
2. Puljuljarvi
3. Gauthier
4. Grundstrom
5. DeBrincat
6. Abramov
7. Kuznetsov
8. Raddysh
9. Bastian
10. Korshkov
Korshkov could be an interesting late round pick up, assuming he is willing to come over.

Rene Lavoie was on Fan yesterday saying Bruins will likely offersheet someone this summer. They want to improve fast.

So they traded Hamilton because they knew an offer sheet was coming and they didn't want to pay $$$ to match and a year later they are going to go the offer sheet route and overpay another team's RFA? If that was to happen and I'm the owner of that team I would really have to question how my team is being run.

I find it odd that Thompson didn't make the list. I would have placed him right in the middle of the pack. He played more RW than C this year, so I'd still count him as a RWer.

Nylander isn't on the list so I don't know if it's a ranking thing and maybe more just profiling some of the top RW's before the draft.
