We had the Hunt for Blue November, could keep honoring Connery with thread titles, after The Hunt for Red October in his IMDB catalogue comes The Russia House.
I suggest the next thread "The Russia White House, - General American Politics Discussion"
edit: ahhhh don't know how to strike through on this thing got it.
[PGT] US election 2020: President-elect Joe Biden his time
lead in Georgia has grown to over 10k now, looking good there. Lead in Arizona is down to 19k, not sure if that's going to hold.
Arizona will be razor thin but in the end I don't think it'll matter. The lawsuits will go nowhere and Gulliani was taking like a lunatic again this morning. There was no cheating, these are just the complications of having mail in voting.

As much as I have become a little obsessed in the last couple weeks, its nice to see comments slowing down on this thread, slowly easing me out of my addiction to outrage!
I welcome a return to boredom.

This comment is way underrated. The history of American Exceptionalism, that everything in the USA is automatically the best means that that huge numbers of people would believe a US turnout record is a world record.
Like how the World Series is the championship of a US domestic baseball league (that added one Canadian team decades into its history)

Exceptionalism coupled with lack of knowledge. The World Series is actually named after the World newspaper.

This may not be surprising but according to my brief google search the most votes ever cast in an election was in India, with over 472 million.

American exceptionalism is such a misunderstood term. It was originally coined by Alexis de Tocqueville and was used to describe the ideals the founding fathers were embracing related to personal freedoms and a government of the people and for the people. The was unique at the time as most nations were monarchies, so this made America an exception to the rule, hence making it "exceptional" (different). The term has since been coopted by conservatives to mean something different, the definition you referenced.
The reality is America is not exceptional. It is no longer that different, and it certainly is no longer the leader in much. In a global community the United States is routinely ranked in the middle to bottom of industrialized nations in almost all measures. America is great, but not exceptional, not when compared to other G20 nations. The idea of American exceptionalism is now nothing more than a punch line for other nations to laugh at. Americans are no more free than any one of a hundred countries around the globe. They do not have any more liberties than any of the other countries they should be compared against. American exceptionalism died when other nations adopted democratic governments.

Ed'slunch just explained this.

It's nice to check in on this thread for the first time today and see that there have barely been any new posts. Here's to a similarly uneventful 4 years.
Just for interest's sake, though, Biden's lead in PA is now over 40,000, his Nevada lead is over 30,000 and his Georgia lead is over 10,000. His Arizona lead has shrunk to about 18,000 and Trump is still on track to flip that one back by a few thousand votes.
Now, back to real life. Feels good man. Feels good.

Arizona will be very close, and there is another big Maricopa dump coming today.
Apparently of the remaining ballots outstanding a good number are rejected that can still be cured, but as I understand it most wont be.
That leaves, apparently, fewer than 100,000 votes still out with Trump needing to make up 18,000–so essentially he still needs 60% of whatever is still out there in order to win.
Right now he is averaging 58.5% of the votes still coming in. It will be down to the wire. If Biden gets one more relatively favourable dump from Maricopa that would likely be the ball game but Trump has been winning close to that margin in every incoming batch of ballots so far.
Notably, recount rules in Arizona are pretty strict—lesser of .1% or 200 votes I think.
