Trump dying of covid is possibly the single best possible outcome for the stability of the US. It is maybe the best chance the country has of avoiding chaos. I don't see what paths there are towards a peaceful transition without Trump being taken out of the running by natural causes. It's the only way he'll be gone without there being someone to blame or be resentful of.
Except Mike Pence steps in as President, we get a constitutional crisis, the election gets put on hold as both sides sue each other over a new election date that gives the Republicans time to have a convention and select a candidate. I tprobably has to make its way to the Supreme Court which would be unformed. And we get even greater instability, riots and violence as conspiracies swirl if the Pubs push for power or the Dems push for power.
Its better that Trump gets better as soon as possible, loses the election and then we hopefully get stability.

None of that would happen the Republicans, Democrats and the constitution all have rules for this exact situation. I believe that the ballots would all read Trump / Pence the election would take place and the electoral college would vote for the next president as they always do.
Bill Barr was right in the middle of the super spreader event on Saturday. I would not be upset if he got it.
Barr tested negative this morning. Doesn't necessarily mean he won't test positive in subsequent tests of course.
Also, it's worth remembering that it wasn't necessarily Hope Hicks who spread this thing. She just happened to be the first person who displayed symptoms and tested positive. Obviously could be someone else who brought it to the event and then could have been multiple spreaders.

I was kidding earlier with my conspiracy theory. This is literally impossible. The current term ends on January 20th. There is no one who has the power to re-schedule the election. There are shenanigans that can be pulled with the election results, to be sure, and those have been discussed in here, but it is not possible to extend a Presidential term.
If Pence stepped in as President, unless re-elected (or at minimum "re-elected"), he would cease to be President January 20th, 2021. There is no way around that.

It is entirely plausible that, if Trump survives through the election or, worse, "wins" it - the US will continue its descent into social unrest, violence, and economic instability.
If this virus gets him, it will be among the most fitting ends that any man has ever had, a blessing to the United States and its allies (including Canada), and one of the few and surest paths to a peaceful outcome and a return to normalcy and civility.
I think people can be excused a little wishful thinking, all things considered.

I remember when the NHL season was shut down someone on this board posted "So this is how the Oilers miss the playoffs" quite prophetically.
And I'll be honest my first thought last night, "So this is how we pull out of this tail spin without a literal civil war knocking at our southern boarder." Lets hope equally prophetic. At the very least this should limit his ability to more damage over the next 2-3 weeks, and I hope that's enough
Plus I want Trump to not only survive, but get the best treatment possible so he can live a good long life, long enough for him to be investigated, tried and inprisioned for the rest of his hopefully long life.
