Does Raanta want to become a backup again? Seems like Hill has stolen the starters net and that could cause some turmoil in the locker room.

They traded Smith with salary retained for a 3rd round pick. They are not going to trade a goalie they gave up a top 10 pick to acquire (Stepan was also part of the return in addition to Raanta).

Crawford is very interesting...
I've never been too high on him, but the results are definitely there.
One that my mind keeps looping back to is Talbot. He's been awful, and the stink is real... but what he did a few years ago was impressive to watch. No question he's dog-tired playing there, and I have to think it's a pretty tough place to stay motivated in net for that squad year-in year-out.
I doubt the Oilers will send him our way... but maybe the Chia and Wilson should have a chat...

Not a chance Arizona will trade Raanta. They will waive Pickard and maybe find a landing spot for Kuemper if they really believe this Hill kid.

I think probably, but the Flames do have over $4 m of cap space at the deadline this year. It could most certainly be used to acquire a quality player on an expiring contract without hurting the team in the summer.

If the cost was reasonable I’d consider renting Simmonds for a cup run

They probably get a 1st pick for him at the deadline. Somehow the Sharks will end up getting him.

The Canucks are open to hear offers on Sam Gagner. I hope dim Jim has cleared his schedule for the afternoon, the phone will be ringing off the hook.

Yes, considering Calgary almost traded Dougie Hamilton for Simmonds +, the Flames would definitely be interested in acquiring him.

That pick could be a first and I doubt Arizona does it.

Unless Lindholm moves to centre i think it would be dumb to pay huge assets for Simmonds as our RW is ok for now (assuming Neal wakes up). What we really need is a #2C. I think a guy like Duchane i would love to add as a rental. However none of this matters until our goaltending is fixed. We could add both Simmonds and Duchane but we will go no where until our goaltending is fixed. I really hope Treliving has a plan before the playoffs.

I would rather try and bring Ferland back if that is the case. He will be cheaper to acquire and is at least familiar with the team so wouldn’t be tough to fit him back in the roster.
Rather not trade pieces like our 1st, Kylington etc for a rental which is what the likely ask would be for a guy like Simmonds.

At this point in the season. We don't need Fw's, or D. We need to figure out goaltending moving forward. save all the bullets we have for a goaltender. Im perfectly okay with walking into a potential post season with what we have on D and FW. we also have a couple more bodies on the farm at FW to work in as well.
As long as the top 6 FW's stay intact, the bottom six can be rotated through a couple of times.

As much as it pains me to say as Bennett is one of my favorite players. What do u guys think of trading him for Raanta straight up? We are going to waste away our window if we dont bite the bullet for a goalie.

The Coyotes have enough middling forwards. Why would they want to trade their starting goalie for him? They gave up the 7th overall pick for him ans Stepan just over a year ago. This trade would be great from Calgary perspective, but the Yotes aren't trading their starting goalie because a rookie had a good 4 games.

I mean, that is precisely the kind of trade the coyotes seem to make every few months... why stop now?

The Coyotes are so far behind though, maybe they would trade him at the deadline. They aren't likely to be competitive for a few seasons IMO. Their goaltending is the only thing stopping them from completely bottoming out, but the rest of their line up is going to take years to catch up.
Looking at their forwards, I think Bennett could probably play in their top 6 and produce a lot more than he does on the Flames.

I dont think they are going to commit to another rebuild. They been bad far too long and their ownership is bleeding too much money to commit again. Thats why i think it would be really hard to pry him out.

Frolik + Gillies + conditional 2nd (becomes 1st if flames make the conference finals) for Ferland ??
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Neal/Ferland
Bennett - Jankowski - Neal/Ferland
Czarnik - Ryan - Hathaway
Mangiapane, Dube, Lomberg
Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Valimaki - Andersson
Kylington, Prout
Smith
Rittich
Scary, scary deep line up.
