We need to ban point/goal totals from discussions for the next 10 years.
GP - G (82 pace) P (82 pace)
82 - 22 ( 22.0 ) 85 ( 85.0 )
82 - 18 ( 18.0 ) 62 ( 62.0 )
68 - 19 ( 22.9 ) 60 ( 72.4 )
55 - 17 ( 25.3 ) 45 ( 67.1 )
73 - 15 ( 16.8 ) 59 ( 66.3 )
Avg is about 21g 70pt pace. 22g 67p if you exclude rookie year and last year.
IMO he's like Brayden Schenn with a higher ceiling.
FWIW, Schenn was traded at age 26 (3x5.125M) for Lehtera + 27OA + 1st (Top-10 protected). Schenn had lesser stats at the time of trade - coming off 2 career high seasons of essentially 25.5 goals / 57 pts.
I agree his rookie season probably drives his trade cost higher than his worth, as well as his next AAV. No idea what I'd want to pay him long-term.
Given the Flames window, I think we might be better off paying similar money to a guy like JT Miller. Better player, but
theoretically his AAV
should be similar/lower since it's buying his twilight years (compared to all prime for Barzal). Given the Isles window, I don't think it's crazy for them to sell high on Barzal and pin their hopes on a [probably] cheaper AAV guy like Kadri.
