If thats from cap friendly it also says his qualifying offer is a 2-way ..... so they do make mistakes.

I've never really seen Eichel as on the same level as McDavid, especially not now after his neck issues. My predictions is that Vegas gets heavy buyers remorse when Eichel is only a 50-60 point player when he's not on LTIR for recurring issues

I'm legit pumped with how this team has played. Outside of maybe the Penguins game (which they won 4-0) they have been the better team in every game thus far. That does not seem like a hot streak, that seems like the guys buying in and the system working.
|
I would have been excited to have Eichel on the team, but I agree that the current roster has looked really good so far, and I hope they can continue this kind of work ethic for the entire year.
Also, how awesome would it be to see these guys make the dance, end up facing Vegas, and pound them into oblivion? That would make for one glorious F U to Buffalo and Vegas. Make it happen, boys!

I am happy Treliving didn't bow into the pressure. There was just too much risk with the Eichel trade. This team is currently firing on all cylinders and could result in Tkachuk and Johnny positively looking at the team going forward (ie. signing).

|
The real QO is $9M .
https://puckpedia.com/salary-cap/ans...offers-tkachuk
Tkachuk's Qualifying Offer for the Flames to retain his RFA rights in the 2022 off-season is $9M. That is equal to 100% of his final year Base Salary. Note that the new rules and calculations regarding Qualifying Offers in the 2020 CBA do not apply to Tkachuk's contract because it was signed prior to that CBA.
The Flames don't have to pay him $9M. They can agree to terms with him on a new contract (for any amount that he agrees to) prior to the Qualifying period in the 2022 off-season. If they haven't agreed to terms prior to the qualifying period in the 2022 off-season, they can qualify him, but unless Tkachuk accepts the 1 years $9M offer, they are still free to negotiate and agree to any contract terms.

Tkachuks are notoriously hard negotiators. it feels like Treliving has really backed himself into a corner with him and Gaudreau. Hope to be wrong but quite concerned about how those two situations are going to play out. An Eichel trade for all of its risk would have really resolved one of the two major contract risks (though while taking on an injury risk)

LOL
I don't care how many points each has put up in the past. No GM, and no intelligent hockey person is going to take Pacioretty over Gaudreau, given the opportunity to have either for the upcoming playoffs.
If you would, then you're out to lunch.

What exactly has Gaudreau ever accomplished in the playoffs? I'd take Pacioretty over him any day for a do-or-die game

Pacioretty has .66ppg in the playoffs and Gaudreau has .63. I'd take Gaudreau on a line without Monahan in the playoffs.

Lindholm has 8 pts in 15 playoff games ... Eichel has none in none.

What has Eichel ever accomplished in the playoffs? He’s never played a playoff game. That whole post comparing players was nothing but infantile foot stomping. The over reaction to not having the player Adam’s wanted is sad. It’s the business of hockey. Get over it.

Just want to point out that Monahan has two more playoff points than Gaudreau. The Sean Monahan bashing has also reached the level of stupidity.

Indeed! He has never done anything to warrant this kind of response!

Ever? Short side on Gibson.
Not that I disagree we need way more from him in the playoffs.

Neither did J-Bo until he went to St Louis and won with that team.

Yeah the perfect player isn't going to come available. A young superstar, no injuries, tons of playoff success, low salary demands, wants to play in Calgary. You try to develop those players internally.
In a trade, you probably have to accept a wart or two. Eichel seemed like a great possibility, he certainly checked the young superstar box.

Not entirely true. JBo went to St.Loo but had three straight years of washing out in the first round. He was with St.Loo seven years before sipping from the cup, and did so in very much a support role. Just for accuracy.

For sure but it is a bad combo just cause Gaudreau would get double teamed. Might be the same with Lindholm and Tkachuk.
