Along with Houston and Austin, Miami seems to have been another major destination for skilled tech workers leaving California. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Damn. So much craziness happening in Murica of late. I saw that #JaylandWalker was trending and saw that there was a protest in Akron, OH today after Walker was shot dead by a number of officers pursuing him on foot after he fled his car after a traffic violation stop. The officers apparently fired 90 shots at him while on foot, with 60 of those shots hitting him. The officers also apparently hand cuffed his dead body after they stopped firing. I read that the police reported afterwards that they found a gun in his vehicle.

You left out the part where Walker fired his gun from the car window and appeared to be reaching in his pants when running, doing those things will get you lit up, and it did.

It seems obvious to me that the undercurrent of this death is the mere fact that guns are literally everywhere in America...hence the cops unloading when a guy even suggests that he owns a weapon.

It's so ubiquitous that an officer assumes the worst and unloads his clip at the mere suggestion of a weapon. I can only wonder how many more people would be alive if gun regulation became stringent. Perhaps the officers make different choices in an America with fewer guns. It's worthy a try...no?

This is almost too dumb to respond to but, I kind of have to at least point out that all I said was, in effect, let's wait to see what the facts are. Case in point, you are calling this a shooting of an unarmed black man, but, the story is now that he actually was in a car chase and shot at police before this. But yes, I know, I'm a biggot and a fascist etc etc.
