I like In Bruges more. I don't know if I would say In Bruges is better than The Banshees of Inisherin, just that I like it more. The latter is much more bleak, and not quite as funny to me.

I've always found The Guard (same director) with Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle to be hysterical and more funny than In Bruges.

Thor 4 seems to divide people based on their love of superhero movies.

You dont like / dont care about Marvel? you will like Thor 4.

I absolutely love Marvel movies and the 1st 3 Thor Movies were just great but Love and Thunder i felt they made it too much like a comedy. I loved Christian Bale in it, though!

Just watched and I don't recommend "Weird: the Al Yankovic story" I got excited thinking it was a real biopic, until I started it. I don't understand the high ratings. I get what they were trying to do, it's just too silly imo and I loved Weird Al growing up.

Yeah, you definitely can’t go into the Weird Al movie thinking it’s actually anything about his life. At all. Other than the fact he’s a real person, I assume everything else is made up. I liked it though, with some good cameos - especially Jack Black as Wolfman Jack.

It’s definitely all made up. It’s mean to parody other biopics. Just like he does with music.

I also found The Guard more comedic than In Bruges, but I like the latter more. For me it was just a more engaging piece of work, balancing comedy with more drama.
Note however that The Guard was written and directed by John Michael McDonagh, who also directed Calvary. In Bruges and The Banshees of Inisherin are written and directed by his brother, Martin McDonagh.

This seems to be a myth, probably started by RLM.
George Lucas supervised all the editing and even did some of it on weekends while doing the FX shots. Marcia Lucas left Star Wars in Nov 76 to work on New York New York.

I grew up loving him too, and his entire career has been based on silliness. So in true Weird Al fashion, he's made a film that works both as an exaggerated parody of his own life, as well as a send-up of biopics in general. And it's funny as hell. Honestly, if it had been a normal true-to-life film, I would have been disappointed.

Finally watched OUT OF SIGHT for the first-time last night. Good movie, albeit not the one I was expecting.

That's the one. I assumed based on its reputation that it was an erotic thriller/noir instead of it being proto Oceans 11 with Noir elements

I watched Saturday Night Fever expecting some light dance movie but that is not at all what I got. This is a very hard R gritty 70s drama but it seems like everyone only remembers the amazing soundtrack(bring back Disco it rocks!). The movie hits hard and is at times a very hard watch, but I thought it was an excellent movie. When it was released in 1977 it was a massive hit at the box office where it would end the year as the #4 film only behind Star Wars, Burt Reynolds and Steven Spielberg movies. The famous critic Gene Siskel said this was his favorite movie of all time.
I will add a trigger warning: this movie has depictions of rape and sexual assault

I remember starting to watch it in High School when it was on as the Saturday Night Movie on Much More Music and was taken aback because I expected the same

Agreed I watched it in my early 20s expecting a bubble gum dance movie with Grease-like sensibilities.
It’s actually a really great movie with some tough themes.

When it was released in 77 the soundtrack was a huge success with kids and teens but they couldn't watch the R rated movie in the theater and there wasn't a home video market back then. Paramount decided to re cut the movie into a PG version taking away all the R rated elements and released that back into theatres. I imagine that's the version most people saw first and remember.

Not for everyone but I enjoyed Crimes of the Future. It wasn't quite what I was expecting and more of a provocative film about the evolution of the human body.
