It's a super slow burn, but I have read the book series (Wool). Had I not read that I think I'd be a bit lost and bored, but having the books under your belt adds a lot of enjoyment to the show IMO. That's probably a pretty big slam on the show, TBH. A good show shouldn't require you to read the books to enjoy. I only ever read the first Game of Thrones book and found it way too wordy to carry on, but I loved that whole series (not including the last season, obviously).

Lost is a great watch if you missed it when it first aired. You're not stuck with all the long waits between cliffhangers and speculation about things that end up never being resolved.

It's a great binge series.

Season one was great and it went downhill from there.

Each season is a self-contained story with the same set of actors playing different roles and telling a very different story, so you won't lose anything if you just watch until it gets too weird for you.

It's a great binge series.
Lost was such a pop culture phenomenon at the time. I wonder if watching it later would be not as compelling because of that. It made for great conversation at the time.

I couldn't even imagine putting in the effort to watch Lost now. 24 episode seasons just seems crazy now with most quality shows coming in around 10-12 episodes.

My first experience with it was maybe 3 years after it concluded? I was aware of it but wasn't familiar with any of the story beats or cliffhangers. It was an enjoyable binge...but that was 10 year ago. Staring down the barrel of 120+ episodes today, when most seasons are only 8-12 episodes as pointed out, would definitely be daunting.

I obviously wasn't in on the conversations at the time, but I can definitely see why it would happen. I think one benefit of watching now without the week break in between episodes was all the subtle connections they made between the characters in the flash backs. They weren't made ultra subtle, but there were times we'd say, "hey wait, was that so and so in the background". Then, rewind and see that it was in fact so and so in the background. I imagine there were a few of those kinds of conversations going on when it first aired.

Lost was great, until it wasn't. One of the biggest examples of blue balls in television history.

I love Lost, its just such an intriguing Case Study of TV.

Lost season 1 was, IMO, brilliant.

And then you just watch that train lose the rails.

"Oh God...they liked it! We need more!! What do you mean we dont have any more? It was supposed to be a limited series? Well...start making #### up!! We're getting paid!! I dont care how stupid it is!! Get God in there! I dont know! "

Its like one of those cinematic events of our age.

Similarly to Tiger King. Oh yeah, its garbage, but thats not the point. I watch it with fascination as someone who loves documentaries.

But I watch it as a Documentary crew go to examine the situation of private zoos and exotic animals and then they start peeling back the layers and it has nothing to do with exotic animals anymore...its this seedy world of sex perverts and cults and slavery and god only knows what else.

I cant...I like to imagine what that film crew must have gone through! What must have gone through their minds as all of these layers of the onion start getting peeled back? Its absolutely bat crap nuts.

Damon Lindelof has a tendency to just keep stacking mystery upon mystery with no intention of ever resolving any of it.

Which I think is absolutely hilarious.

"Oh! So we're doing this now too are we? Alright! Fine then! Be that way!"

This trait worked brilliantly in the leftovers as it being unresolved was the whole point.

Stupid Squid game ending in the middle of the season. There is no reason to not have satisfying ends to storylines in the era of streaming.

Definitely not continuing to watch now. Thanks for the heads up. God I hate shows that are so obviously steered by pieces of garbage in a boardroom.

Netflix is doing this with all their more popular stuff now just so they can promote it for longer -- like why is Cobra Kai final season being released in three parts? And you can bet your ass Stranger Things when it finally lands will be at least two parts with months in between too.
