I thought so too. And this is unlikely, but maybe it's because he really knows Puljujarvi that he isn't quite as sold on him?
I still think Columbus takes him but all this talk about the Jackets pick possibly being moved is getting me a little excited. I would also have no problem moving a spot or two to secure one of Tkachuk or Dubois because I'm higher on those two than the rest of the forwards projected to go after them.

I think Columbus is desperate for a center, and that's why they might trade down.
Question is what they want? Cap dump? More picks(doubtful)? Roster player? Graduating prospect?

If we trade down perhaps we can acquire a 2nd in next years draft instead of this year.

That's highly unlikely. Trades of picks at the draft are all about positioning to pick players you want. Taking a 2nd in next year's draft is a wild card. I can see Treliving always wanting to collect extra picks in later drafts, but likely not at an active draft.

Is there some other underlying story here besides they are both from Finland I am unaware of? Otherwise to me this is like saying Cheveldayoff would take Dubois instead of Laine. Kind of ridiculous.

Yeah there is so much posturing and smokescreens this time of year that you really can't get caught up in believing much if any of it. Every year we hear the same talk of top 10 picks being available to trade but it never happens. The prices for 3rd overall will be so astronomically high that most teams in the top 10 probably realize the player they may get at their own position is not that much of a downgrade that giving up a fortune would be worth moving up.

What does everyone think is more likely:
One of Columbus, Edmonton, Vacouver, Calgary trading down?
Brown going top 5?
Dman going top 6?

I think Brown going top 5 .I really don't see deadmonton doing the right thing and grabbing one of the top Dmen wich they need and I don't see of the top 6 trading down.

Columbus takes Dubois or Brown at 3
Edmonton takes Puljujarvi at 4
Vancouver takes Brown or Dubois at 5
we end up with Tkachuk the player I least want among these four while Edmonton gets handed Pulju on a platter.

Trading down will only happen if another team is so motivated to take a player that they are willing to cough up the assets you want. If that doesn't happen it is probably more wise to pick the player you really like, then watch the mayhem happen after the fact.
Brown could very easily go top five. Big talented centers are not available very often, especially ones that take a big jump in their development this early. Remember, you're picking the guy that is going to be the best NHL player, not the kid that is ripping up junior.
A defenseman should go top five. It would be criminal for Edmonton and Vancouver to pass on defensemen. They both need defensemen in spades. Edmonton more so than Vancouver, mostly because Vancouver needs talent everywhere in the lineup. Edmonton's defensive depth is so piss poor than any of the top five defensemen in this draft could probably step in and play top four on that team. That is how badly Edmonton needs a defenseman. Having said that, I have no doubt that Chia Pet is going to get string armed by Klown into selecting yet another forward that they will bill as fanchise savior V.62.

Lots of interesting interviews up on Oilers radio in the last week
-Rocky Thompson coach of Windsor on Sergachev, Brown and Stanley
-Aaron Portzline from the Columbus Dispatch on what they may do
-Chiarelli from the combine
-Bob Green, Oilers directing of scouting
-etc

Just listening to them so far.
-Rocky Thompson believes Sergachev's shot distinguishes him from Chychrun and Juolevi and that it gives him the higher upside. Sergachev has a couple bad habits he needs to iron out. Doesn't think Sergachev is NHL ready.
-Thinks Brown has 1st line potential and 2nd line downside.
I can summarize more as I finish listening to them.

C'mon it's hilarious! The Oilers media are such fanboys. It's quite the stark contrast to our own radio guys who act a lot more professional.

Same as me Granteed EV I don't like Tkachuk and I get the feeling that he's going to be a Bust. I rather have Brown. I think 15 years from the draft people are going to say what a steal getting brown at 6 .like all of us we would all love to land Dubois but I think Van takes him.

I think that if "need" is the defining factor, EDM "needs" a F for their prospect depth chart more than they "need" a D. They have Nurse and Reinhart as D prospects, both LH D, which most of the top D in this draft seem to be, along with Klefbom, Sekera, and Davidson - LD is arguably one of their strongest positions in the depth chart.

New Era awesome ,yeah the poilers will duck up aginand pick a Forward in stead of one of the top D-Men who I heard at least 2 of the guys a lot of the scouts think they could step in and play right away. But all I hear poilers fans keep saying we need a guys who can play right away not 4 years from lol

Sergachev is an intriguing prospect. You look at the stats both in terms of his physical stats and his actual production, and he looks like the best defenceman available. This is supported by him being voted best defenceman in the OHL. You watch his youtube highlights and you also see the high end talent.
Taking into account all that and it makes you wonder why he isn't a slam dunk to be the first defenceman to go.
Interestingly, when I watch highlights of other prospects from the OHL, you actually see Sergachev victimized a lot in the defensive zone. I wonder if its his defensive zone play and reads that are holding him back and if there are questions about whether these things can be corrected.
