Bichette is day to day. That is unbelievably good news.
Now let’s still go get Teo.

Still over an hour to go but if they leave it here I’d be happy. Hard to go all in with a roster who’s been a roller coaster this year. I’d just be super thrilled if they don’t give up their best prospects. The one thing I fear right now.

Dan Shulman said on Blair & Barker that when he asked if a move to add Ryu has been made yet Schneider said not yet which leads him to speculate maybe a reliever from the active roster is being traded.

I wonder if, now that they have DeJong to play a solid defensive short, if they will use Bo at for a while at DH once any swelling subsides.

Upgrades the D at SS and upgrades the DH production.
Is DeJong better than Belt at the plate? If so, this would be an upgrade all around.

Hopefully DeJong gets a Rogers Centre/AL East boost. Of course that was thought it would help Varsho so who knows.
I'm glad we improved the defense but the offense is more of a concern.

DeJong will play against lefties when Belt can’t

DeJong and Belt have no direct effect on each other.
DeJong would never DH and Belt would never play SS.

Really strange, Jays just don't have the roster to make much damage in the playoffs with another bat.

Dejong has a .820 OPS Vs lefties so that is the big bat Vs lefties

Trade deadlines are always fascinating to watch. I think the team did fine - made a few upgrades and didn't mortgage the future for those upgrades. Realistically that is all anyone should ever do, especially in baseball where the playoffs are so volatile.
Jays has the 2nd best ERA and 7th best wRc+ in the majors this year (and 5th and 6th in wRc+ is STL and LAA, who might not even make the playoffs). They are a contending team this year, so no need to sell the farm for upgrades at the margins.
