You do realize Stephen Harper led a large (and widely reported at the time) anti-gay marriage rally on Parliament Hill?

I hear Harper was the one that lit the cross on fire.

Actually, it sounds to me like he's flip-flopped on Gay Marriage in the years since 1994 in order to align more in accordance with that of the majority of Canadians.
Guess it's just not an issue any more. Not worth the santorum he'd be stirring up.

If you guys think this shouldn't be reported... I imagine you'd be significantly more upset when the media reports, say, people killing their kids.

When has that ever happened in politics? Did the Republicans just 'move on' after the 2008 election? Did Sarah Palin 'move on' when she was rejected by the voters?

One more time because I know it is really hard.
You can report the news without giving a platform and...oh nevermind.

Personally, I demand a higher level of class from parties that I would support.
I haven't read enough about this to know, but does this girl represent a particular party?

I was about to say the same thing. There's no possible way you can be that stupid.

You're just a perpetually angry l'il fella, aren't you?
I'm sure you'll somehow link this all to Eric Francis though.

Should Brigette DePape not be made publicly accountable for her very public action? I know that in other, undemocratic countries she'd just end up "disappeared."
Maybe if the Prime Minister had been a little more accessible to the Canadian public on the campaign trail (instead of his hand-picked Tory Rent-A-Crowd) and suffered a few hecklers and "Stop Harper" signs along the way, DePape would not have gone to such extraordinary lengths.
Really not sure how the media could avoid the story when, afterall, it was government officials who correctly identified DePape after she used a pseudonym in her media release.

Middle paragraph - hilarious. You're on a roll.
Extraordinary lengths like this?
Step 1: Make stop sign with no ruler and crayons. (30 seconds) check!
Step 2: Fold crappy stop sign (10 seconds) check!
Step 3: Hide it in stodgy page clothing (2 seconds) check!
Step 4: Betray oath taken on becoming Parliamentary page. (0 seconds) check!
Step 5: Rest due to exhaustion from "extraordinary lengths." (Lots of time due to unemployment) check!
Step 6: Bask in the adulation of MSM and other left-wing nutcase wannabe's (x days / weeks) ongoing!

I would think so. It certainly wasn't an ordinary everyday event, especially for the normally moribund Senate.
That's why it was news.

Yes I hate those dastardly politicians changing their views on gay marriage. Particularly, Barack Obama and Jean Chretien were the very worst.
Scoundrels... all of 'em!!

No, I was referencing your statement that DePape went to extraordinary lengths. It certainly was an extraordinary event for the Senate.
And I agree it was news - regardless of how little effort went in to the stunt.

The only reason gay marriage is even being mentioned is because Vladdieboy wanted to underhandedly lob the ol' "Oh, yeah, but you're a homo" rebuttal. Well played, Counselor, well played.
