If that first set is any indication, I would say so. It was all business. Impressive.

Well, Cornet was also playing like dog #### until the last couple of games. Not to take away from Leylah's performance especially on the return.
Cornet now pulling some BS asking for the trainer.

Not to mention that Emma has a different coach from the one who was there for the US Open. I guess that it was just a temporary arrangement for the US Open, but a change like that is still going to have a big impact.

Gee, shocking, Cornet comes back from MTO and seems to be perfectly fine, just as she was before.

Permit me to interrupt the Leylah - Cornet match to show a guy with a metal hip covering a whole lot of court.

At this point I don't know who the favourite is between her and Pavlyuchenkova.

Millman: You did. What did you say?
Sock: No I didn't
Mllman: Yeah you did, bro.
Sock: No I didn't
Millman: Yeah you did, mate.
Sock: No I did not.
Millman: Then you proceeded to tell me that you should shut the fack up...
Sock: .....
Millman: And then you go on to give me your facking game by breaking yourself. But yeah, it's my fault.

Very weird, Millman is regarded as one of the friendliest guys on tour and Jack Sock also has shown very good sportsmanship throughout his career. Likely just a misunderstanding, It was kind of a frosty handshake at the net, but stuff can happen in the heat of battle.

By the way, Andy got his stinky shoes as well as his wedding ring returned. A hotel employee found them and put them in the lost and found.
Murray said: “The day after we realised they were, let’s say, misplaced or someone had moved them, I went and I spoke to the lost and found a couple of times at the hotel that day. They said they’d found nothing. I spoke to security. They said they found nothing. I was like: ‘Well, they’re gone.’ I was going to file a police report to try to get them back or to increase my chance of getting them back.
“Anyway, I went and spoke to the hotel, explained to them that was what I was going to do. They then decided to take all of my details down, the details of the shoes, ring, took me out to the car park and asked exactly where it was I parked.
“I asked them if they could look at the cameras. About an hour later they turned up. One of the employees at the hotel found them in their lost and found. So, yeah, thankfully managed to get them back, which was good.”

Diego Schwartzman is battling young American Maxime Cressy right now, Cressy made the finals in Calgary last time it was played.

I'm curious - is it possible, if Leylah were to somehow win this whole thing, that she could still make WTA finals? It seems like she could sneak into 8th spot with the full 1000 points and Osaka not playing, though there are a lot of people she would have to leapfrog?
Checking the betting odds, Leylah is in fact favoured tomorrow currently. Hilariously, Raducanu was the overall favourite to win the tournament, so that's out the window...
