In honor of Bob Odenkirk earning a Tony nomination for his role as Shelley Levine in Glengarry Glen Ross (saw it on broadway a month ago). I wanted to present some of his work on Mr. Show. An HBO sketch comedy show from the late 90's that is ####ing genius.
Also features David Cross and a young Tom Kenney who would go on to become Spongebob Squarepants.

Funny enough Mr show took the piss out of glengarry glen Ross many times. The bible salesman sketch is a direct spoof. My impression was always that bob and david thought the film was patently ridiculous.

The interview he gave in the Playbill was revealing. He viewed Levine as one of the great comedic roles ever, and he wanted to play it a little more that way. Seemed to resonate with audiences.
When I watched him, he wasn't too different from Jack Lemmon's portrayal (which I think he idolized to some degree), but his pauses and comedic timing made the audience laugh on the regular. Both he and Bill Burr really nailed the timing throughout. It was great.
Michael McKean had a small part to play, but he was ridiculously effective with just a few lines. Kieran Culkin played a unique and almost angry Ricky Romero, but he also brought some funny moments to the role.
I dunno, I don't see a lot of broadway shows, but I really, really liked that one, and I'm such a huge Odenkirk fan that I was glad to see him get the praise since he's not a traditional broadway actor.

No context other than these British panel shows might be the funniest thing ever, and Sean Lock was a goddam genius. That last joke on at the end seems like something that shouldn't make its way onto television, but here we are.
