I think Nashville will be stocking up to make a run over the next 2 or 3 years. Weber and Rinne are in their prime. Johanson looks to be fitting in well.
Good veteran contributions from guys like Fisher and Gaustad.
They won't be flipping talent for picks.

The guys that everybody expects to see on the Calgary trade block : Russell, Jones and Hudler.
The guys that would make sense to move from a salary standpoint : Raymond, Wideman.
Makes me wonder who is expendable on this team, that other teams may want, to facilitate trades. This is brought upon by the carousel rage that permeates the game threads. Colborne, Granlund, Backlund, Jooris.
I'm beginning to think that we may see more of the third group moved out than the first two groups combined. Most teams in the NHL are looking at long term value, and these are the players on the Flames who would be coveted. Being a rebuilding team, the Flames are not yet in a position where hording this kind of player is essential.
If we trade all of our chips, and target a potential late bloomer like one of Curtis Lazar out of Ottawa, Radek Faska out of Dallas, Mark McNeil in Chicago, Alex Kolchnechev in Boston. Plus whatever picks we can garner, I won't be sad.

Josi and Brodie, a tale of two unsung heroes living in the shadows.
Looked at their stats last night. I would say Weber and Josi on on par with each other.
I didn't realize Weber was having such a solid season. But then again.. He always has a solid season.. So I guess I'm a bit off with the Nurse/Yaks for Weber.
Who is making these groups? You?
I don't see any of "group 3" necessarily being moved. Maybe Backlund if a great deal is thrown at us.
But other than that, I think there is likely to be better options for teams.
This is all at the deadline. After the season is a different story.
I have come down from upon high to send this missive to you, IgiTang. The number of players named Colborne, Jooris, Granlund and Backlund shall exceed the movement those following the names of Russell, Wideman, Hudler, Raymond and Jones. This is the opinion of the greatness that is I, that other teams want cost controlled players, and there are internal solutions to the movement of two to three of those four. This is the word of Lime, and the word is good.

Yabber yabber yabber... So you came up with the groups? I disagree with your groups.
upwards of a dozen teams who have had significant talks with Drouin
teams waiting to see what Yzerman will do
sense is Yzerman will pull the trigger in the next 24/48/72 hrs or it will be slow played and other teams will decide to move on
Preds in hunt for more offense
very aggresive
hopes to have a deal in place before deadline
Therrien's job is safe with the Habs for now
Loui Eriksson asking for 5-6 years and north of $6 million from Bruins
highly unlikely Vinny L. will not retire
Marleau's agent is still exploring trade options under the radar
Kerby Rychel asked for trade in offseason but ONLY if he didn't make the Blue Jackets. Currently with the Blue Jackets, but still may be moved as Columbus does a makeover
Stars would like another defenceman

It's got to be a real possibility. I'd like to see him have some good games. He could definitely garner attention from not just the Preds but multiple teams if he can string together some strong games.
Shea Weber also got an offer-sheet from the Flyers specifically aimed at ####ing over the budget team Nashville.
The 110M dollar contract was heavily front-loaded with Shea making 14M a year for the first 4 years. Nashville has already paid over half of the contract, and still has him under contract for the next 10+ seasons. Moving him now, after biting the bullet and getting close to seeing some major salary relief on the contract, wouldn't quite make much sense.

Maybe the Stars could be a landing pad for Smid, Engelland or, dare I say, Wideman?
You have to think Treliving is looking to move at least one or maybe two of the above Dmen. Especially if rumors are true and they are trying to re-sign Russell.

Ha! That has to be the "insider" Dreger. You mean Stevie Y might trade him today, tomorrow or sometime in the indeterminate future? What a scoop!
Edit: Bob, I expect more from you.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
