Not sure if that decision was made today, I may know a little but can't post it here. WestJet never actually confirmed today either, all we had to go on was that screenshot that did indicate "Coming February 28", so obviously something changed between February 20th and today.
What a PIREP (Pilot Report) from a CRJ-200 flight going into Washington-Dulles today:
"IAD UUA /OV KIAD/TM 1238/FL040/TP CRJ2/TB MOD-SEV/RM VERY BUMPY ON DESCENT. PRETTY MUCH EVERY ONE ON THE PLANE THREW UP. PILOTS WERE ON THE VERGE OF THROWING UP."

It appears that WestJet has delayed the new livery launch, no word on when they will unveil now. Rumours of "Spring".
From what I understand they were planning on revealing the new Dreamliner interior and exterior but the interior isn't ready for the reveal so they postponed.

Or:
1. Union negotiation with pilots not going well? WestJet was also recently ordered to stop how they were negotiating directly with the pilots in order to crew the Swoop division.
2. 763 roll out did not go smoothly
3. Tier 3 agreement with Pacific Coastal (WestJet Link) delayed after much fanfare.
Seems like many new initiatives recently have not been rolled out without some kind of significant issues.
Timing seems abrupt.

It does seem rather abrupt. I would assune that board gave him the option of retiring or being terminated.
KLM's 747-400 'City of Calgary' is on its final flight before being retired, operating Hong Kong - Amsterdam. After this flight she will most likely be flown to Teruel, Spain where a company breaks down aircraft.
